    Area Advocacy Groups

The Oregon Natural Desert Association is a great advocacy group for the high desert regions of easter Oregon that are primarily, though not entirely, comprised of the northernmost portions of the Great Basin. Includes the Steens Mountains, Hart Mountains, Owyhee Canyon Land and many other...

Who else was in Death Valley over spring break?

My wife and I were also in Death Valley over that time period. However, we don't fit with any of the sightings listed. We arrived on Tuesday the 23rd and left on Wednesday the 31st. We took in Cottonwood Canyon, Keane Springs, Monarch Canyon, Dantes Overlook, Zabriskie Point, Charcoal Kilns...

Who else was in Death Valley over spring break?

We were in Panamint all weekend....but of all of the sitings above I don't think any of them were us. We never got as high as 190, stayed on panamint/ wildrose and charcoal kiln road. Last two days were in Tuber Canyon mine hunting. Pic is coming out of Tuber Canyon onto Wildrose Easter morning.

    DEATH VALLEY TRIP

After the multiple recommendations for the Saline Valley, looks like we will add the that to our itinerary. Clothing optional is actually our preference, as we have made a point of exploring all of SE Oregon (and parts of NW Nevada) over the past 25 years and hot springs are always on the top...

    DEATH VALLEY TRIP

Thanks for the input. We explored the Mojave 10 years ago and, on another trip, took in Anza Borrego and Joshua Tree. As noted earlier, this will be our 1st time to Death Valley. We're looking forward to an escape from the Oregon rain and, hopefully, some heat. We will be camping out of the...

    DEATH VALLEY TRIP

My wife and I will be picking up our new Grandby Shell in Woodland on 3/22 and plan on heading down to Death Valley for the 1st time. We don't have to be back to Portland until 4/3 so we have some time to explore the area. I've been reading a variety of the Death Valley threads and viewing...

    FWC's on Craigslist

I saw two FWC's for sale on Craigslist in the NW. Both were posted on 3/07. Seattle Craigslist - 2000 FWC Grandby. Not sure if it is a shell with upgrades or a full camper. Has jacks, furnace, ice box. Mounted on a '94 Ford F150. $8,500 takes the camper and the truck with only 90,000 miles...

    Mold!

I live in Portland where, like our big sister to the north, it's a bit damp in the winter. I had a '98 Grandby for 7 years that sat in my driveway year round. I sold it a while back but, at the time, I kept a 40 watt heating bar plugged in and also used those little tubs of crystals that...

    Yakima Tracks on a FWC

I owned a '98 FWC Grandby and had Yakima top mounts on the roof to support 3 cross bars, 2 in the back and one in the front. I carried a canoe on top and sometimes a yakima basket case in the rear. I sold that a while back and just placed an order for a Grandby Shell. They will be mounting...

    FWC or ATC Shell Conversions

I just placed an order with FWC for a Grandby Shell for my '99 F250 SD LB 4x4. I'm interested in hearing about any shell conversions users have made to either FWC or ATC, particularly the Grandby or Panther. Any photos you are willing to share are also appreciated. I actually had a FWC...

    White Rim Trail

I drove a portion of the White Rim trail in Canyonlands back in July 1976 in a 2wd Datsun Pickup. We took a steep, nerve racking road from the rim up to the top of the Island in the Sky and, half way up, ran into some guy coming down in a Chrysler sedan. That was impressive. I wondered how...

    Hawk dimensions

Camper Dimensions I purchased a new Grandby in 1998 to fit the new generation 1999 Ford Super Duty. The cabs on these trucks were taller than anything on the market. This was prior to the current ownership. I was the first owner of the new style Super Duty to come to them. Rather than prop...
