I was on top of Steens Mtn (9700') over the weekend and the views in all directions were a little hazy but not too bad overall. Could be worse by now but seems like the winds are kicking up a bit which is not good for the fires.... I remember one trip in the late 80's when the view from Steens...

I made a spacer that sets the distance between the wheel well and camper box.(convienently it is the exact width of a 2x4...) I just lean against the camper and reach in and drop the spacer into place. Keeps centered distance intact as I continue to lower. :blink:

On the other hand we have probably driven on another 10% or more, so maybe we only have another 600 miles to go.. give or take. :D

Hoping to catch a good view in this neck of the woods with the comet visible just above the Three Sisters Mtns west of Bend. Throw in a sliver of a moon and it might make for a nice pic. Extended forecast is showing some clouds with rain, finger crossed for a clear sunset.

I rarely carry my Hi-Lift which I'm sure will come back to bite me someday but always keep extra bottle jack from my construction work in the camper as they take up so little space. Lots of boards too as figure it might help with options for jacking along with the usual leveling issues.
