RV LIFE Forum Hub, Wander The West Adding 12v fridge to 09 Eagle

I also have an older model Eagle Shell. Like you my only electrical loads are my fridge, fan and a couple LED lights. I use an over 20 year old Engle chest type fridge and couldn’t be happier with it. I’m glad I got the largest size available (can’t have too much beer and food in the outback!)...

RV LIFE Forum Hub, Wander The West Entry door window issue

When I was calling around local RV shops looking for a replacement, one guy mentioned that new upgraded window with the built in shade. Looks kind of interesting and not much more money, but will have to check it out in person to see if it looks like it will stand up to trail pounding and dust...

RV LIFE Forum Hub, Wander The West Entry door window issue

Saw this older post about the ongoing rear window issues. All the tabs finally broke on mine so I’m beyond temp fixes and need a new frame. Called FWC about getting the ‘new improved’ version and was told that it wasn’t really much of an improvement because the two halves just snap together...

RV LIFE Forum Hub, Wander The West Rethinking the Toyota’s tires

Hey Jon, Any idea what model Toyota rims you used when you switched to 16”? I figured I’d just find out what the backspacing was on OEM 15x7” rims and then just find some factory 16x7” with the same backspacing and they would be a perfect fit. Looked all over the internet, including the very...

Love the picture of your old Toyota pickup, paint it green and that’s our setup. If 16’s worked for you on that rig they will definitely work for me. Checked out your very informative website. While I have read a lot of your stuff in various magazines over the years, there was definitely much...

Thanks for the update. Glad they are working out well for you. Found the rims I want and test fitted, all looked good. Going to go with a stock steel Toyota 16x7”, the black ones with 18 small holes like most Tacomas had for spares (keeping it cheap and simple). Have to wait for tires though, as...

RV LIFE Forum Hub, Wander The West New BFG HD Terrains - Any opinions yet?

Need some new BFG Mud Terrains, but they don’t make them in the 235/85 R16 size I’m considering switching to. Saw the new HD Terrains on the website, but can’t find any impartial reviews yet (just obvious reprints of sales literature). Wondering if anyone has real world test results and/or...

Anyone out there that’s still driving a pre Tacoma Toyota tried this size? Love to hear from you.

Appreciate your reply. Glad to hear they’re working out for you. Like you I’m all about function over form. Been running 235/85x16’s on my old Chevy for years, and figured it’s time to try them on the Toyota. I’ve always been of the opinion that big lifts and wide tires belong at the mall, not...

Looking forward to hearing how they work for you. While a slightly different truck, I imagine the weight is about the same. Thanks for your input, Tom

I’ve got a 93 Toyota extended cab 4x4 (pre Tacoma) with a built out 4WC Eagle shell. I’ve always run 31 10.5 x15 BFG Mud Terrains and been very happy with them. They are ready to be replaced, but decided I’d take them on one more backcountry trip to Utah. On the way out of town I figured I’d...

RV LIFE Forum Hub, Wander The West Testimonial #0817

As I recall, in the early days they used to advertise that you could drive 55mph with the top up. I’m sure their lawyers quickly put a stop to that advertising campaign. While not a member (yet) of the driving while erect club, I’ve definitely driven off unlatched a few times. Fortunately was...

RV LIFE Forum Hub, Wander The West Jerry Cans - The secret Weapon

So I finally made a couple variations of unleaded adapters. The cheapest is to just remove the crappy plastic part of the one that comes with the can. You can then just jam a piece of 3/4 inch copper in and call it good. Two problems: The angle is still not good for a lot of fillers. You...

While definitely well used, mine was also not rusty, and still had most of its original green paint. Your end nozzle looks about the same as mine. It unscrews to reveal the screen. Mine has a small hole in the screen and I’m thinking I probably don’t need a screen anyway. Still trying to decide...

Finally tested out my new Swiss nozzle. Haven’t made an unleaded adapter yet, so tried it on my old 65 Chevy truck. Full 5 gallon dump took less than 30 seconds!!! As stated before, build quality very high - I’m sold. Next have to make an adapter so I can test it on the Toyota. Can easily...

RV LIFE Forum Hub, Wander The West Tire advice

Another vote here for the Michelins. Although I have a set of spare rims mounted with BFG mud terrain’s I switch to for the really rough stuff, for pavement, gravel or snow the Michelins can’t be beat. They also wear like iron.

Only place I could find listing the Swiss Nozzle was ‘Swiss Army Vehicles’ in Arkansas. Website listed it out of stock every time I checked. Finally decided to call and was told no idea when they might get more and that there was a very long waiting list. The very nice lady then agreed to put...

So the downside of the shaker appears to be that the can needs to be higher than the tank to work effectively. Unfortunately I don’t have a convenient shelf like JWL. For now I’ll keep looking for a Swiss spout. Lots of versions available online, but none appear to have the long internal vent...

Love the quality of my new Wavian can, but disappointed in the included spout. Was only able to empty about half the 5 gallon can into my Toyota due to the angle, and it took forever. Would like to get one of the Swiss spouts mentioned earlier in this thread, but link shown was out of stock...

RV LIFE Forum Hub, Wander The West Cutting off outdoor flaps on older camper

As far as I’m concerned those outside flaps are the best thing about my older Eagle, and the reason I would buy an ATC over a FWC if I had to buy a new one (ATC still uses the flaps). I spend a lot of my time in the desert so being able to make the flaps into awnings results in significantly...

What a great thread. Never knew there was a high quality alternative to those leaky Blitz cans (threw mine away years ago). That looks like a really reliable solution NM. My only question is how many times have you hit your head on it. For a spaze like me I think it would be a lot As for kmc’s comment, the 4WC panel is about $150 more than the wood one from ATC, and a much longer lead time. Have way too many...
