RV LIFE Forum Hub, Wander The West Question about lithium batteries and storage

I've read that lithium batteries like to be at about 50% while in storage. So one idea is to attempt to use it to about that level, plus or minus quite a bit (35%-65%?), then disconnect the battery and forget about it all winter. I'm not sure if that's ok in very cold temperatures though.

RV LIFE Forum Hub, Wander The West utilizing spare tire area

Just be aware that putting your rear tire so far back takes weight off the front axle and adds more than the tire/rack weight to the rear axle. On our setup, all our camper weight went on the rear axle.

Perhaps unrelated, but we have had trouble finding a uhaul trailer. Maybe they are more available in your area.

That was an interesting article. I have to quibble that it doesn’t seem like the author tried the tires, but just compared theoretical differences.

RV LIFE Forum Hub, Wander The West 10 ply. Tire Recommendations

I’m getting the impression that all 10 ply tires work great! So many different different tires mentioned. I wonder if manufacturers compete such that they are pretty similar. Only exception mentioned is the old KO tires, now replaced by KO2.

RV LIFE Forum Hub, Wander The West 10 ply. Tire Recommendations

I was pleasantly surprised that mileage in our KO2 (different from KO, not sure how much) was about the same as our P-rated tires. The E-rated tires were 50 lbs (37 for the P-rated tires, so they were 36% higher), and unsprung weight is supposed to affect mileage. Perhaps the much higher...

RV LIFE Forum Hub, Wander The West The Acoustic Thread - What are you listening to?

I had to look up "True Temperment" also. I thought it was a different tuning system, such as Bach's "Well-tempered" as in his 48 preludes and fugues in all the keys. Before then, only some keys worked on keyboards, due to the tuning system in use in even earlier generations. But no, True...

RV LIFE Forum Hub, Wander The West Tacoma wind struggles?

Yes, it has a way to limit shifts to lower gears, but so far I've not found a way to determine which gear it's in. We drive a lot slower, rarely over 60, and have averaged 18 mpg in our Tacoma/Fleet combo. I still dream of constructing a good fairing. There are nutplates or similar under the...

Thanks. The Brophy cable jacks have a tripod base. I assume we won't run over that base? Also the Brophy connection seems a little scary. Looks like it has a small angle iron that could slip off.

After four years of leaving our camper on our truck, we need to use it as a truck. So we need jacks, but looks like they aren’t available. See https://www.riecotitan.com/mechanical-camper-jacks For now I’ve been using a truck Jack to lift the vehicle, then bolting 4x4 posts to the camper and...

RV LIFE Forum Hub, Wander The West Moisture inside- Leak or condensation?

For us it depends on temperature. A warm night results in no condensation (the walls of the tent don't fall below the dew point temperature, for you thermodynamicists). But that's rare and most nights we have it on all the tent walls, the ceiling where the frames are, and sometimes frost if...

RV LIFE Forum Hub, Wander The West Camper on an electric F-150

I've heard range is reduced quite a bit with towing and hauling extra weight. So you're right, it would be good to know how that affected. Also you'll hear how cool it is to have 110V or plenty of power available (instead of cabin batteries). But that can also reduce range while you are frying...

I remember a guy who ranted about people calling their GPS receivers a "GPS". "No, that's the satellites, you're not carrying a dang satellite," he would pontificate, "it's a GPSr." But isn't it ok to abbreviate abbreviations? Thus A for Ah for amp-hours (amps times hours, technically). GPS...
