    Fwc solar options

For the Eagle shell I still like a 150 watt panel on the roof. Morningstar 10L sunsaver controller (amazon) , 10 amp fuse between the controller and the battery. My system is very basic like yours (Engel portable fridge, fan, few lights at night). Average amp draw 2-3 amps per hour. Largest...

    ((Eagle/Fleet)) - Shell Amateur Build

Field Report Yesterday we returned from our 14 day - 2,120 mile trip to Oregon. Jet-boated on the Rogue River out of Gold Beach and took a sand buggy tour of the dunes near Florence. Visited the Life Guard Museum in Port Orford. Camping continues to be great. The wife really likes the excellent...

3 way frig. vs. 2 way

CDW, When you did your rework do you have any pictures or notes on the process? I'm sure there are others out there that would be interested in learning how you made your 3-way so efficient.? Four Wheels 3-way install: Back-in-the day the story was 3-ways mounted in pop up campers were...

3 way frig. vs. 2 way

Thanks for your input CWD. Great that you are the exception to my and others experience. What year is your camper? What make your Fridge? What part of the country do you live in? All these comments on WTW are from everyone's experience. Perhaps the new ones are more efficient than the older...

3 way frig. vs. 2 way

Hi Fun, Compressor fridges are more expensive because you need 2 batteries, plus at least 150 watt solar on the roof, Definite plus for the 3-way 2-ways Will run 30* off level.vs 3-way has to be level. Will cool 95* below ambient temp vs 40* 3-way. I can turn my portable Engel on at Lake...

    ((Eagle/Fleet)) - Shell Amateur Build

48 pounds. MT35 weighs 60 pounds. It has a tough plastic shell for a marine application as steel will rust in salt water. I used my MT 35 for a freezer once to store ice cream for a party. Worked real well. My friend just uses the 040 as a fridge...has never frozen anything yet.

Attention shell owners Engel USA has dropped their prices

Yes I too miss a fridge/freezer combo. The MT 60 is too big for my Tacoma Eagle/Fleet. The "040" looks much bigger in the Eagle (see photo below text) though its the same width and depth as the MT35. Just 2 inches higher (size does matter ;) )...And larger capacity 40 quart vs 34. I have a...

    ((Eagle/Fleet)) - Shell Amateur Build

Yes Happy I cant believe $629.99. The "040" is only 2" taller than the "MT-35 Looks bigger though. Remember FLEET shell owners - the Eagle and the Fleet are the same width between the wheel wells:

Update 7/28/17 Our next trip is to Oregon July 31st. I am borrowing my friends new Engle MRO40F side opening fridge, Don't let the out of stock comment bother you. Like a FWC there is always a one - 2 month lead time to get one because they are so popular - at least this model is.

Attention shell owners Engel USA has dropped their prices

Happy, Have had the MT35 for almost 4 years and its worked great. Only downside is I will have to sell it around $ 450 not the $650 I was going to ask for it.

Attention shell owners Engel USA has dropped their prices

Engel has lowered their prices over $200. My new favorite - the MRO40F is now $ 629.99.. Going to order one soon and sell my "MT-35. Engel does make a portable combination "fridge-freezer" a 60 quart.

    Rear electrical plug

The wires are not terminated if you do not have an internal solar controller. They are coiled up near the batteries. I advise an inside solar controller as you may decide in the future to add a roof top panel as the compressor fridges will drain your battery when your sightseeing or hiking...

    Factory roof solar/portable solar questions

Any ridgid panel around 150 watts will be heavy (our is 26 pounds), Mount it close to the rear vent to balance the weight between the two lifting ends. I did not do that so have to use the "speaker lift" as the struts won't lift the front by itself.

A few last minute questions before ordering Fleet

Wow...32 replies. Here is my 2 cents Whatever your decision. Whatever the options you order, if you take care of it, you will probably recover 50-60% of your investment over its life. Your not paying $20,000 for a camper. Your only paying $8,000 to $10,000. So you might as well purchase all...

Have you tried to sell a FWC today?

We have had ours 5 years . There are a lot more on the road in SD now. Still about once a month someone asks for info, and I hand out a brochure. Last week we were in Northern Wisconsin ( flew ) visiting relatives in Eagle River, about 25 miles south of Michegan. We saw two Hawks in one day.

    Portable Solar vs Roof solar

Removing glued panel Many manufactures recommend a chemical that will dissolve the glue. 3 M does and I checked it out before using the VHB tape. "Four wheel drive" on page 4 - reply # 33 recommended "Dicor" to plug the hole(s) .

    Porta Potti. what model ?

And actually there are no "floaters" in a Thetford as they are dissolved by the liquid chemical. We been using Thetfords for over 30 years in boats and campers with no leaks. Much safer than the portable urinal bottle and easier to get to in the camper in the dark of night.

Sedro The front sprinkler pipe install.: I just laid used 4 "dobbles of 3M 4000 glue equally spread over the pipe. Set it down and temporary taped it with blue painters tape overnight. Then removed the tape. Been stuck up there ever since. I used the pipe because I was concererned about the...

Congrats on your new Fleet. And welcome to the Family. Getting over the 500K limit is easy (well easy if you have access to a windows computer). Here is the procedure: Procedure to “embed” photos into Wander The West – Post 1. Open Two WTW windows. 2. First window go to Post and select...

    FWC Eagle Shell questions

Finsty, Congrats on your new purchase, Hope you have many happy camping years ahead. Fridge: Like "Wandering Sagebrush" I like the "Engel" . Engel is a "2-way compressor" fridge made in Japan. Look at the MR040 because its"side opening".. Engel draws 2.5 amps on start up. Once it lowers...

    Portable Solar vs Roof solar

Sedro, you don't need to ground it. I bought the "Z" pads from Renogy who recommended 6 pads glued on the roof. I used 8 and I glued a half inch diameter plastic sprinkler pipe in the front as I was concerned about wind getting under the panel and lifting it off the roof. I bolted the other...
