RV LIFE Forum Hub, Wander The West Good article on New Owners of FWC

Thanks for sharing the article from "Truck Camping Magazine" Bill . When I spoke with Tom at the SoCal rally in last October, he assured me that he and Celeste cared about the employees and customers wanting to make sure Four Wheel stayed in business for the long term. I think we will see more...

RV LIFE Forum Hub, Wander The West New or newish truck for my Eagle: mileage, power, fit questions

I agree that the new Gen 2 (or 3)Tundras are really great......however the Eagle is only 69 inches wide while the Hawk is 80 inches. There is only about one -" HALF" inch of side overhang clearance beyond the fender on our 2013 Tacoma (76 " wide). On the pic below the sheet metal curves in ...

RV LIFE Forum Hub, Wander The West New or newish truck for my Eagle: mileage, power, fit questions

I-4 vs V6 We had our 2012 Eagle shell on a 1999 Gen 1 Tacoma for about a year (ordered it to fit the Gen 2 truck though). Gen one had the I-4, manual 5-speed and 4WD. Performance over 60 mph was NON-existent. Any freeway hill meant riding in the slow lane in third gear, speed about 50 mph...

RV LIFE Forum Hub, Wander The West Ordering a Hawk 1-28-17 Do's Don'ts?

Thermal Pack Great for hot or cold climates. Keeps cold out in the winter and hot out in the summer. Canvass sweats in the winter so it provides a dry barrier. We leave ours installed permanently. Expensive yes. For a do-it-yourself option check out "ski3pins" directions. Material cost around...

RV LIFE Forum Hub, Wander The West Ordering a Hawk 1-28-17 Do's Don'ts?

We have the Eagle shell model and after 5 years only wish I had purchased the Yakima tracks to easily mount the 150 watt solar panel. And panel is heavy ...to heavy to lift with the two inside lifters. My fault because I mounted it in front of the lifting board and all 25 pounds sits in front...

David, When in doubt contact the factory. Start with Stan - at Four Wheel? stan@fourwh.com? I have seen the roll-over couch installed on the drivers side a few times. I assume the camper batteries are installed under the cushion closest to the rear door. In our 2012 Eagle shell the aux battery...

Rotti I do miss my garage....and yours looks great. Though the average cost of buying a garage (with house attached) around here is $600,000. Now retired its not in my budget. :(

My 2 cents: Problem with many light canopies is the material degrades over a short time caused by UL light interacting with the plastic material 1. consider raising the garage header bar 6" to a foot. My buddy did that. Cost about 2,000 (includes a new garage door.) 2. Can you park rig next...

Squatch Thanks for your comments. I have been experiencing an intermittant "popping" sound in the front wnen I go through a gutter into a drive way. Both the dealer and my mechanic can duplicate the problem and can't locate the source. I was wondering if its ball joints although both say no...

I have had the same problem with our 2012 4 x4 Tacoma an Eagle. The first time was on the Oregon coast highway south of Florence. Porpoising so bad at 50 mph I thought the rear tires were coming off the ground.! Slowing down to 45 stopped it. Only on concrete not asphalt. And to some degree I...

RV LIFE Forum Hub, Wander The West Wiring for my new Hawk Shell

Welcome to the family Mike. When we received our shell model we ordered it with just the two connectors (no solar panel) so the wiring was not connected to the battery. You will find two sets of two wires (black and red) coiled and secured near the "Sure-Power" unit in the battery compartment...

RV LIFE Forum Hub, Wander The West Happijac mounting system for a Hawk on a Tundra?

My friend Terry had the "Torklift_Fast guns" turnbuckles on his Kestral(Hawk) 2013 Chev 1500. He had a local welding shop fabricate the pieces that were welded to the frame and the draw bars that extended out from the "pockets" to attach thje "Fast-guns" too, Saved him about $500 if I recall...

RV LIFE Forum Hub, Wander The West Realistic usage from 4.5 amp 12 volt frig ?

David, my 2 cents A top loading portable is more efficient because the cold doesn't fall out when the door is opened. Our 35 quart Engel MT35 (picture is the 40 quart side opening MR40) holds enough food for two for 7 days. And ice for 7 days (holds ice cubes doesn't make them on fridge mode)...
