    Illegal Mining Claim Markers

Edward Abbey would thank you for posting this. In the past, I've volunteered with Friends of Nevada Wilderness and we removed a ton of illegal PVC mining claims in the Black Rock area. We took the markers out of the area so as not to leave them as litter. I'm glad I now know to to leave them...

How Many Nights Did You Camp in 2015?

Wow, everyone's tallies so far make my measly 22 nights seem kind of puny. I knew Ski & The Lady would take the prize; they'll be hard to beat in any given year. I plan to do a lot of service-related camp trips in 2016 with Friends of Nevada Wilderness and Friends of the Black Rock, so...

How Many Nights Did You Camp in 2015?

I saw a thread like this last year and so I kept track of my trips this year. I thought it was fun to see everyone's year end tallies. I did 22 nights in 2015 and I'm going to try and bump that up to at least 30 in 2016.

Any Favorite Overnights on 395 between Lone Pine and Inyokern?

It's just a little north of Lone Pine but Keough Hot Springs has nice places to camp and you may have time to squeeze in a nice soak to boot. http://www.keoughshotsprings.com/

    Thanksgiving with the Dogs

That was a beautiful Trip Report. Did the ghost of Edward Abbey visit you while you were in his backyard? I'm also impressed that you all put together a whole Thanksgiving dinner while camping. I'm lucky if I can get a can of stew heated up sometimes. Looking forward to another TR from the...

    The Trek for Turkey

I don't think I'd Trek for Turkey if I had access to oysters like that! I hope they were as good as they looked.

Full time family ditches Airstream for a FWC.

When I was a kid, 6 of us spent a week and half in a truck camper while on a road trip to Disneyland. We had a blast, but it was tight indeed. I don't remember being too cramped, I just remember the great time we had and I think your kids will probably remember the adventure most of all...

Soon to be new Hawk owner- Need advice Re. Dogs.

I took this from the Internet, but this works well for me and there is some storage on the floorboards, etc. I also made this little bag I call the "Pooperoo" (a play on the "Trasheroo") as a place to temporarily stow my poop-filled bags. I've never seen a bag invented or a knot tied tight...

    Thanksgiving 2015- Benton and beyond

Very nice trip report and beautiful photography. I really like exploring that area and you're right, it's hard to pass up a soak when you're so close to nice hot spring.

    ONE POT PASTA

Let me first say that I am NOT a gourmet and I like to go very simple when I'm camping, but the other day I heard about a simple "One Pot Pasta" dish on NPR. I think it'd be great for camping and I though I'd share it here.

Death Valley National Park - November 2015

To pass up a soak in a wild hot spring is sacrilege to me too, but sometimes they're just too crowded and I guess I'd rather pass them up than go for a soak and have a miserable time. I loved your pics of the canyons and pour overs; boy, I'd like to see them in action after a good desert rain...

SALINE VALLEY HOT SPRINGS, Death Valley N.P. Nov. 12-15, 2015

I think some volunteers repaired the one washout that I went through. They were even considerate enough to place warning cones on both ends of the washout in case it was too dark to see. When I went, I had two back-up plans in case the road was impassable: 1. Benton Hot Springs 2. Keough Hot...

    Awning Alternartive

I know what you mean, $750.00 for a little shade is steep. For my next project, I'm going to use a rail (below) and try to come up with a way I can use a tarp or a sheet of nylon to improvise an awning. If I'm successful, I'll post the results, if I'm not successful I'll hide in shame...
