RV LIFE Forum Hub, Wander The West My Homemade Awning

I'm not sure how long the tent pole is. I just pulled it out of my REI Hobitat 4 tent that I have in the garage. I folded the edge of the tarp over and sewed it to create a sleeve into which I can slide the pole through. The key is to use a light weight fabric. On my first attempt I used...

RV LIFE Forum Hub, Wander The West Tioga Pass - May 2016

I finally found the time to read your latest TR--always a lot of fun. I've only skied three times and the 3rd time I broke my leg (cross country). After that I hung it up. This TR made me want to reconsider that decision. Maybe next season...after I've upped my insurance... As a federal...

RV LIFE Forum Hub, Wander The West New guy with introduction. (sorta long)

Here's a pic of my ATC Bobcat on delivery day (2014). I've since removed the jacks and built the interior shell. I'm a little over 1,000 lbs on a Toyota Tacoma and I have Firestone Ride-Rite Airbags. I've had no problems at all with the extra weight and I'm managing to get 14 mpg with the...

RV LIFE Forum Hub, Wander The West ATC Window Shade Solution?

I just used cotton canvas material for the blackout curtain and drapery sheer for the diffuser panel. It works great for me. Honestly, I rarely use that side window.

RV LIFE Forum Hub, Wander The West 2016 BLACK ROCK RENDEZVOUS, Gerlach, NV

I think a dual sport would be a GREAT way to explore this area. After seeing some of "Park's" postings in his "Nowhere to Be" blog on this forum, I've wondered if a dual sport is in my future. I'll have to wait until the kids are out of the house and the dog's dead before I go that way, but it...

RV LIFE Forum Hub, Wander The West No Juice to the Porch Light

I had a porch light failure the last time I went to the Black Rock Playa for a weekend of meteor watching. As it turned out, my porch light picked up so much playa dust that it wasn't making a connection. I removed the bulb and blew it out and viola, problem solved.

RV LIFE Forum Hub, Wander The West Chalk up another Bobcat

I'm from New Mexico and I just did the drive from ABQ to Reno a dew weeks ago. Aside from the Flagstaff area, you won't find much relief from the heat on I-40 in July. If I were you, I'd drive from Reno to Hawthorne, NV for the night and camp near Walker Lake (it'll still be hot, but not as...

RV LIFE Forum Hub, Wander The West Some AT camper questions from a prospective new owner

I immediately took the jacks off of my Bobcat. Not only are they very heavy, but I didn't want them hanging up on anything I might drive over or between. If they get caught on anything, they'll do a lot of damage to your entire camper.

RV LIFE Forum Hub, Wander The West Project Shoal Nevada - April 2016

I grew up a mere 40 miles from the first atomic blast at Trinity Site (White Sands Missile Range, NM). I had the privilege of a private tour of the site, which is only open to the public 2x/year. It was incredibly interesting. Also, just an "FYI," be careful in the mid summer and late fall...

RV LIFE Forum Hub, Wander The West Carson Pass

The third time I tried cross country skiing, I left the mountain with a spiral fracture on my leg. Deciding that it takes waaaaay too long for 50 year old bones to heal, I hung it up. I wish I'd have picked it up when I was younger and learned how to ski well because it's such a great way to...
