RV LIFE Forum Hub, Wander The West Any Experience with the Tokina 11-16mm f2.8 Wide Angle Lenses?

I checked out the Flickr and the photos are awesome. I wonder how many of them were taken with a cropped sensor camera vs. a full frame?

RV LIFE Forum Hub, Wander The West Any Experience with the Tokina 11-16mm f2.8 Wide Angle Lenses?

I'M SO CONFUSED... I've been thinking about getting a wide angle lens for a while now, but the more I research them, the less I know and the more questions I have. Tokina 11-16mm DX I have a crop sensor Nikon and I really don't want to spend a lot on a full frame DSLR. I've also heard...

RV LIFE Forum Hub, Wander The West My Homemade Awning

Looks great! Have you experimented with a removable panel that you can attach when the sun gets low? I thought about making such a panel, but then I scrapped my plans because I felt it would be complicating things. I just do like you do and move to the other side of the camper when the sun's low.

RV LIFE Forum Hub, Wander The West First Longer Trip advice appreciated!

My only little tidbit of advice is relevant regardless of the length of trip, but I ALWAYS keep a roll or two of quarters in my center console for pay showers. I don't like campgrounds either, but you can always pop in to one just for a shower and nothing's worse than being dirty in front of a...

I agree with 97grandby. The wind is really going to push you around with the high profile and in places like NV the wind can be quite dangerous. Here's a good Consumer Reports article on how even small roof racks can have a big effect on gas mileage. EXAMPLE: 2013 Honda Accord (4-cyl.)...

Awesome find of the grotto in Part 2. I'm curious, did you see any recent footprints or evidence of visitors to that site or is it so well hidden that it doesn't see much foot traffic?

RV LIFE Forum Hub, Wander The West What's your favorite camp chair?

I'll give that a try for sure. I was at REI a few weeks ago and saw that the chair was listed on their display as available (I got a little excited), but when I asked an associate to order it for me he said it was no longer available. I didn't think to ask if any other store had it in their...

RV LIFE Forum Hub, Wander The West What's your favorite camp chair?

I have and really like my StrongBack chair, but this has become my favorite chair. It's light, comfortable and folds nice and flat, but wouldn't you know, REI discontinued them.

RV LIFE Forum Hub, Wander The West Western yellow jackets, aka meat bees

A couple of weeks ago, there were a few posts where meat bees were a problem (I was one of them). I got online and found this nifty little MEAT BEE TRAP that should be very easy to make/use while camping. I think I'll give it a try next time I'm in their area.

Ha Ha! I'm currently reading Blue Highways too. I only have a few pages to go and it'll be a book I know I'll re-read in the future. In fact, I liked it so much that I was able to find two other Heat-Moon books (Road to Quoz and River Horse) at a local used book store and picked them up for...

RV LIFE Forum Hub, Wander The West My Homemade Awning

Nice job Bosque Bill. I thought about attaching my awning to the roof line as well, for the same reason you mentioned, but I found that the higher up I placed the awning, the less of a shade footprint I had below it. Since my awning is pretty small (just a military tarp), I get more shade the...
