newish FWC owner looking to upgrade

My install was a whole different kettle of fish, because back in 2007 the campers were not pre-wired for solar. Your 2022 on the other hand should be pre-wired for a solar install. See the link below.

    Tire tread depth for replacement

While it definitely roughens the ride, increasing the pressure on all terrain E rated tires quiets down the noise while at highway speeds. With that said, someone my local Discount Tire seems to believe that the E rated tires should be inflated to whatever pressure recommendations post on my...

    Front Dinette Cushion Remodel

Nice work - I like how the piano hinges allow the side panels to fold down for easy access below.

    Roof Rails

To mount a couple of 5 foot Yakima rails onto my ATC Bobcat, I added a layer of 3M VHB tape between the rails and the roof. Unlike FWC, ATC still uses two panels for the roof, which are fastened onto the under laying skeletal tubing with screws. So, I was able to drill new holes into the...

**SOLD** 2020 All Terrain Camper - Bobcat: $18,000

Unless your truck is 1st Gen Tundra Access Cab - then you'll need to fabricate a platform to lay in the cargo bed to raise the Bobcat up a bit. The platform allows for clearance above the bed rails and the top of cab of the truck.

Gas lift assist strut part number for 2018 Fleet

If it is of any help - after I did my solar install, the swap from 30 lbs gas struts was a good enough improvement with regards to lift assist on my ATC Bobcat. I upgraded the front struts to a pair of 40 lb struts.

Gas lift assist strut part number for 2018 Fleet

These may be a custom spec that isn't widely used, a.k.a. pricey. What was the price quoted per strut at FWC? If you want to pursue a chase down a rabbit hole, contact Suspa https://www.suspa.com/us/contact and give them the specs that you received from FWC. The closest Suspa part # that...

    Overloaded

That was my guess. No matter what is stated in the MSN article, my other guess is the road manners on this rig was probably a bit squirrelly even before the failure.

    Castors for Camper Dolly?

I built my own out of 2x6 lumber and used 6" steel casters for an ashpalt driveway with lots of embedded pebbles - but for gravel wouldn't a Harbor Freight trailer be a better platform.

New FWC's have 10awg wire internally, why have a thicker wire from truck?

12.7 volts is the shut off threshold for my DC 2 DC charger. Also, 30 amps through 15 feet of #10 gauge, I'm guessing the voltage drop will be closer 9/10ths of a volt.

    Renogy Controller & Battery Install

I also want mention that this particular Renogy controller draws 63 milliamps - while in standby. Therefore, it is handy to have a device to isolate the house battery from the controller for when the camper is indoor storage. .063 amps = about a 1.5 amp hours of parasitic loss per day. Over...

    Renogy Controller & Battery Install

Yes - 3pin did a nice out of the way install that is compact and unobtrusive. I built my panel as a 1 piece board outside of the camper and installed it about a month later. It ended up taking up more space, mainly to my preference for separate bus bars and placement of two resettable breaker...

Solar Panel Wires Behind the Lift Panel

As far as I know, my 2007 ATC Bobcat was not wired for solar. For the wiring behind the front lift panel I used super flexible #10 gauge silicone wire - which has many more strands than what the RV industry uses. On a side note: I noticed that the black wire for the ceiling lights was cracked...

    Renogy Controller & Battery Install

@Craig I recently installed the smaller 30 amp dual input Renogy charger - with the hope that it will never stress my 130 amp alternator. My ATC Bobcat is mounted on a 17 year old Toyota Tundra. I want the amperage draw to be limited. Charging parameters: The first mention that Renogy gives...

Those two add-on circuit breakers are of my own choosing. They are not part of any Renogy schematic. Only the 40 amp fuse is mandatory. Not shown is 50 amp circuit breaker that connected to the other end of the dirty white/gray positive wire which leads to my truck's starter battery. The 50...
