RV LIFE Forum Hub, Wander The West Alaskan 10' CO - upgrading Electrical, battery and charger

The above install is in an ATC Bobcat - which does not have an abundance of interior space. One other point - my install uses #6 gauge wires from the battery to the bus bars - in theory a 700 watt DC to AC inverter could be installed, if the wires to the bus bars were kept to about a couple of...

RV LIFE Forum Hub, Wander The West Alaskan 10' CO - upgrading Electrical, battery and charger

I did a Renogy dual input 30A controller to a 100 Ah LiFePO4 install in September - with no provision for an AC inverter. My build reflects my preferences to keep all my components in one location. The solar panel is rated at 175 watts. * Note the addition of a couple of circuit breakers to...

RV LIFE Forum Hub, Wander The West Switching Between House Battery and Starter Battery

The circuit breakers are a way for me to shut off and isolate two components in the camper's electrical system, if I desire without pulling fuses. * The circuit breaker on left is to isolate the main positive cable to the house battery and if there should happen to be a short circuit, it will...

RV LIFE Forum Hub, Wander The West Switching Between House Battery and Starter Battery

I have a 30A Renogy dual input charger with MPPT mounted into an ATC Bobcat. The install was not a simple as plug and play, mainly due to where one wishes to package the ancillary circuit breakers and fuses. The battery box for the LiFePO4 battery is missing from the image below. Note also...

RV LIFE Forum Hub, Wander The West Switching Between House Battery and Starter Battery

Taking a good look at your first image - I see that there is no house battery in the camper. One solution for now is to install, along with an automatic charging relay, an AGM house battery somewhere within the camper located between the 30 amp fuse and the camper's fuse panel. The problem...

RV LIFE Forum Hub, Wander The West Switching Between House Battery and Starter Battery

I think there will be some instances where each of us have trips planned at the same time. In those cases, he gets the camper) and I get the cooler/battery. Not the answer, you're looking for - but with a lithium power station, in my case a Bluetti EB70 I can easily place my 12 volt fridge...

RV LIFE Forum Hub, Wander The West Lithium charging too much?

That was my reasoning upon purchasing the dual input DC-DC with MPPT - but the install ate up way more real estate than intended. The image shows the install two weeks ago. I may attempt to update the image to show where the 100 AH battery is stowed and the extended shelf mounted to the cargo...

RV LIFE Forum Hub, Wander The West Lithium charging too much?

I'm in the process of installing this controller in a 2007 Bobcat and have yet to install the added battery monitor. So, I wish that I could be of more help. In case you were going to suggest it, the “user” defined custom settings have the same effect even when I set them to stop “boosting”...

RV LIFE Forum Hub, Wander The West Are all lithium 12v batteries created equally?

#1 concern for me is that the LiFePO4 have a decent BMS with a cold weather shut off to prevent charging when the temp is below 32°F. So, don't go too inexpensive. SOK's 100 Ah battery received a pretty good thumbs up from Will Proust -...

RV LIFE Forum Hub, Wander The West Lithium Trickle Charger

For winter storage, LiFePO4 batteries have a low self-discharge rate of 2% per month. Install an isolation switch that cuts off the battery from everything else in the universe and you may not need a maintain provided that camper battery is at 50% or more when in storage.

RV LIFE Forum Hub, Wander The West Is this 2017 FWC fleet worth the sellers firm price of $21,000?

It's a unique build. I like it even without the outer storm flaps and passenger side window. It does have a furnace, if you look at the image of the low mounted galley. If one desired and kept the flame low enough, he or she would be able make a cup of coffee without raising the top. The...

RV LIFE Forum Hub, Wander The West Should FWC campers be marketed towards Tacomas?

Drifting back to a mid-sized Tacoma - in the past 5 years, as opposed to a self contained slide-in pop up, a plethora of pop up canopy shells have entered the market that weigh in at less than 500 lbs. Granted that's a dry weight, with no accoutrements or gear. The FWC Project M is one example.

RV LIFE Forum Hub, Wander The West Norcold Fridge Removal Question

A 12 volt DC chest style fridge is a far better approach than the usual offerings from the American RV industry. Stick an insulated pad on top of the JP40 and you'll find that the bottom side of the pad is cool to the touch each time you remove it to raid the fridge.

RV LIFE Forum Hub, Wander The West Should FWC campers be marketed towards Tacomas?

I've been silent on this topic, but in my case a wonderful base model 2015 Tacoma Access Cab 4x4 equipped with a 2.7 liter four and 5 speed manual was not enough truck in my opinion to pull an ATC Bobcat up serious inclines at highway speeds. The suspension of the Tacoma which had an...
