Eastern Sierra Nevada - July 2019

She is back to practicing in the driveway again-the drive from Truckee thru Tahoe, then down 50 sort of scared her. Any way that short cut over to 88 sure worked well. Ended up going up 88, to 89 and 4-been a long time since I've been there, not much traffic-until I hit 395, that is. boy things...

    Small Camping Tables

I bought one of those cheap white plastic end tables from Ace years ago. Doesn't weigh much, fits on top of the end cabinet. in my Granby and does the job-this is my second one, the first one was lost to a sudden wind on the coast and sailed off to parts unknown. Smoke

    Lightening Strikes on FWCs?

Ya, I have the same reaction and impressions as Ski. Just sit tight, enjoy and don't use the time to clean your tire iron -just kidding ! Seems to me that vehicles all have some type of system that bleeds off that type energy, but I tend to still not touch metal things during the...

    bug sprays ?

Truck Camper Magazine (truckcampermagazine.com) asked that same question several months ago-so it might be worth the effort to pull it up because they did a good job with finding out what our fellow campers thought (Thermacell ) .FYI-I got one, it worked okay around the campfire, but...

Why we need to self regulate. Tread lightly on public lands

No Paul-that is the official BLM Fed Reg Notice and you can comment/reply on it-it would not hurt to do it. The notice I got was WildOwyhee. Org. That site is a non-government interest site-like Sierra Club etc., and going on to it makes it easier to put your views out and submit them: it...

Why we need to self regulate. Tread lightly on public lands

Just got an alert from the Wild Owyhee Canyon Lands Organization. Seems like there is a new BLM Land Management Plan out for the Owyhee Canyon Lands and SE Oregon. It has a 90 day comment period and they are asking for comments. I tried and failed to paste it here (my fault again). After what...

    Ditch the GPS!

Seems like this subject comes up allot around here ! Still old school for me(mostly)! I had a job with the BLM before GPS that required I know where I was at (most of the time) so I could record what I found so we manage, etc., it properly. My major recreation was/is backpacking...
