RV LIFE Forum Hub, Wander The West Questions regarding "So, you want to setup a good electrical system in your camper?"

Thanks Jon..I assume NFPA 1192 is a federal statute but what is the Oregon statute changed Jan 2020? Found this. Not Federal but RV Industry generated: "As announced this past summer, the RV Industry Association Board of Directors approved the 2021 edition of the National Fire Protection...

RV LIFE Forum Hub, Wander The West Questions regarding "So, you want to setup a good electrical system in your camper?"

I concur...it always comes down to % of assumption of risk by the individual ..and as stated at least my '16 Hawk is vented by FWC; which in the world of lead/acid batteries is sufficient but un-needed for my BB LiFePO4 battery....I take exception to any government entity telling me I must seal...

RV LIFE Forum Hub, Wander The West Questions regarding "So, you want to setup a good electrical system in your camper?"

Not all Li battery chemistry is the same...from what I read the LiFePO4 batteries do not suffer from ignition or gas loss...of course I could be wrong...

RV LIFE Forum Hub, Wander The West Questions regarding "So, you want to setup a good electrical system in your camper?"

Only in Oregon? Wow...where is the statute specifying that the battery box must be sealed? Must be a new mandate since our 2016 Hawk [bought new here in Oregon] did not have a sealed battery box; screwed on lid with gasket was definitely not gas tight. Where was silicon sealant you removed...

RV LIFE Forum Hub, Wander The West Questions regarding "So, you want to setup a good electrical system in your camper?"

Jiggers. Our battery compartment is vented too, and the area sealed as described by others above. Never noticed that before. But the vents don't look sufficient to cool very much in hot weather, it seem more for venting gas. On the other hand, in very cold weather it may be enough to cool a...

RV LIFE Forum Hub, Wander The West Questions regarding "So, you want to setup a good electrical system in your camper?"

My 2016 Hawk side dinette has a screened vent on shelf on passenger side under the top cover [with neoprene seal] over the battery box which is at front /passenger corner....also I do not believe LiFePo4 BB battery can vent gas if case is intact; in other words no battery case venting...

Utah, Watch BattleBorn video [somewhere in this thread] interview with owner regards voltage variances in their batteries...100% is fine and in storage voltage [vic 712] will settle into about 13.3v then hold for a long time...do not leave charger for extended periods; constant charging without...

RV LIFE Forum Hub, Wander The West furnace won't light at elevation and cold

Back at you....I forgot that at some location there had to be a gap with "points" to complete or open the circuit; or so I thought... Too many years of sanding pitted vehicle points and using a feeler gauge to re-set the gap....I assumed modern circuits had evolved beyond that, but with a...

True, with the required skills you could build your own Li battery; but I do not have that skill set or the patience to pursue it. Prouse was/is a big fan of BB....and our BB has a 10 year warranty...any electrical work I do has about a 10min warranty.. B) Yes, we converted to all Victron...

Battleborn batteries....if you want greater usable capacity and no worries about low SOC damaging life of battery; you get all the energy without damage...oh yes, LiFePO4 [BB] can be used in very cold temps for two reasons...the BMS will not allow damage by trying to charge below a certain temp...

Concur...from what I have read the "improved' sail switch is the same as the old one but with a different base mount [82 vs 81]....hence, it seems logical to assume that debris [belly button lint  ] inhibits the sail switch movement thus it does not make electrical connection and...

Hmmm..wrong switch? "furnaces manufactured before s/n 72498929.that don't use the #33081 sail switch"...I am confused...s/n 72,498,929 seems to be higher than your s/n 11,295,264; therefore your furnace was not made after 72498929?

Question always lurking when problems are discussed: How often has an issue actually occurred? Of all the heaters in FWCs used at altitude how often does the air flow past a sail switch cause erratic functioning? Don't get me wrong; always good to have a "Plan B" available if your furnace...

RV LIFE Forum Hub, Wander The West Dometic furnace sail switch rehash/update

It is counter-intuitive to redesign anything and not give it the next larger numerical designator rather than a lower number... Why was 33082 revised and then re-numbered as an improved switch to lower numbered 33081? And would FWC camper stock and use the unimproved model? Seems backward, but...
