    roof lifting helper shocks thingys

Thanks Vic! I just ordered the C16-22241 from Suspa. 3-4 week lead time. Not an issue. I have the factory inside struts at the forward bulkhead which easily lift the front of the camper. The wife is having great difficulty (impossible really) raising the rear. I was leaning towards the 40#...

Thanks! Did you use self tapping screws through the skin directly into the camper's frame tubing? Thx again!

Vic Do you have the P/N for the rear 30# strut? Thanks! Bill

    LED bulb for porch light

Thx Russ... I suspect the one I ordered will be exceptionally "bright white" light at 6 - 6.5K. But that will be ok since I'm looking more for a task light then a light for ambiance.

    LED bulb for porch light

I couldn't find a 340 but 280 should be enough for a simple task light...hopefully. Ron, thanks for pointing me in the right direction! Just ordered the 280.

    Revisiting heavy duty trucks

Let's see some pics Bill! Here you go Eddie. My soon to be daily driver. 5 speed, 3.4L diesel. Sitting on the dock in Japan waiting to be stuffed in a CONEX box. I take delivery next month. Land Cruisers Direct is installing: 1. OME 2" suspension and shocks 2. 16" Toyota FJ steel...

    LED bulb for porch light

Where did you source your light Ron? I have the side and down LED light option on the Hawk. I prefer the clear, white light on the back as well. I will use it for a task light. We hardly use the amber porch light now. If we've used it 5 times in 3 years, that would be a high side guess.

    LED bulb for porch light

I've noted many comments by others who have swapped out their incandescent bulb for a LED bulb in the porch light. Can someone please provide a link for an LED bulb they've used for the swap out? Also, is there a source for a clear lens to replace the amber lens? I also noticed in a recent...

    Front Dinette or Side Dinette?

We prefer the front dinette. More room to move about the very limited space in our Hawk. Plus the front dinette turns into a very comfortable twin bed when solo and needing to stealth camp. The windows in the front dinette are not for looking out, one is an emergency exit which is required by...

    Revisiting heavy duty trucks

7.3 Super Duties (pre-2003) are still fetching over $20K in the south. I sold my 2003 with 98K for $24,000 in 2016; paid $32K new! As long as there isn't any corrosion, everything on that truck is rebuildable. I think my 2003 was a much better truck when I sold it then new due to suspension...

    Screen Door Latch

I've adjusted my 2015 Hawk's latch once. Otherwise, hasn't been an issue. I'll go out and take a look-see for possible solutions.

    What's your favorite camp chair?

Helinox Sunset Chair Super light weight. Stows under dinette seat; or inside the kayak. Stuff a jacket in the stow bag and it becomes a headrest, pictured here. Most importantly, very comfortable! Even better customer service from Big Agnes, Helinox NA distributor. If you happen to be...

    Camping along the Loneliest Hwy?

We used the Bob Scott campground last June as well. If you need a saloon, the International Cafe & Bar in Austin is a unique experience. The owner left Serbia at 12, now in his 60s, maybe 70s. Some very interesting conversations.

Wilco Hitchgate Offset now offers to swing either way

Good to read Wilco uses the cam lock system to eliminate play. That's a huge PLUS IMO, especially when driving off-tarmac.

    New vent: goop?

Go with DICOR. I use 4200 exclusively on my salt water fishing boat. I always spend more time cleaning up then applying the product. 4200 can be a real PITA to work with unless you have some helpful techniques in your kit; even then you might be prone to utter a cuss word or two (if so...

Helper springs (leaf springs?) if camper not on the truck year round

I should have mentioned, I (and I pretty sure SMLOBX as well) installed the Bilstein 2" front leveling kit (Bilstein coils springs and Rancho RS9000XL shocks). This kit levels the front of the truck to the rear, unladen. Thus, if any load is added to the bed, the rear will squat a bit relative...

Helper springs (leaf springs?) if camper not on the truck year round

Interesting comment regarding your O/L springs. I wonder if they are after-market? I'm on my 4th Super Duty and all have squat some under a heavy load, camper, gravel, etc.. And all have had the enhanced payload (O/L spring) option or the OME suspension upgrade with overload spring installed...

Truck Camper Magazine reviews the 2018 FWC Hawk

I have been contemplating this very mod. Was there a compelling reason to leave areas sticking out a bit from the vertical portion of the cabinet face? Thanks for posting! Bill

Helper springs (leaf springs?) if camper not on the truck year round

Agree with SMLOBX... I have Air Lift bags as well. If you go with new spring packs, you're going to have to compromise between carrying the camper load and when camper not in the bed. You have to decide which is more important and lean that way as they design the spring packs for your truck...

Wilco Hitchgate Offset now offers to swing either way

Eddie... The biggest issue with any receiver mounted accessory will be play between the accessory and the vehicle reciever. It is darn near impossible to get all the play out without a device incorporated into the accessory. I have tried washers, but pennies work best as they are malleable...
