RV LIFE Forum Hub, Wander The West Overland Expo SOLD.

I had heard this was a likely possibility. Roseann and Jonathan created something very special that has probably grown into a full time job. No doubt taking far too much time away from their true passion, overlanding and adventure travel. Given the extent OX-West and East have grown the past...

RV LIFE Forum Hub, Wander The West 20" vs 17" tires ?

If 17" is as small as you can go, and you can find the tires to suit your needs, then such is a worthy consideration. Just realize those 17" tires you find and like may not always be available due to low demand. Personally, if 17" was the smallest my truck could handle, I would step up to 18"...

RV LIFE Forum Hub, Wander The West 20" vs 17" tires ?

Wheel sizes... As others have posted, the smaller the wheel, the more sidewall the tire caucus will have thus allowing you to air down to a lower psi without damaging the sidewall as long as you pay attention to gross weight. Why are we seeing 20" wheels on trucks? Easy/quick answer-less...

RV LIFE Forum Hub, Wander The West Alpine Loop in a full size truck camper?

Eddie Mesa Verde is a great park to visit. Very interesting history both pertaining to the inhabitants and how discovered. Be sure to sign up and take the many guided walks offered by Rangers. If you're towing your trailer, you will have to leave it at the park entrance, unless you're...

RV LIFE Forum Hub, Wander The West Overland Expo West Must see sites along the way?

Talk to Stan at FWC. I know when Tom owned the company, he'd have the guys travel to different places along the way home (Woodland, CA) after OX. Friday and Saturday are the big days at OX. Bug out early on Sunday. You will have seen everything and many vendors begin packing up Sunday...

RV LIFE Forum Hub, Wander The West Getting stickers off?

If you feel the edge of the sticker with your finger, you should be able to remove it. Use a hair dryer or heat gun on low setting to remove sticker. Then Goo Gone to remove any residue. Then wash with warm soapy (Dawn) water and rinse. But as ntsqd stated, if its been on there that long...

RV LIFE Forum Hub, Wander The West Alpine Loop in a full size truck camper?

Eddie Lynn and I did the Alpine Loop in our F-350/FWC with no issues. Just go slow, especially in certain areas. We went in early summer after the snow melt. There were some deep rutted areas but no problem traversing. There are some sketchy off-camber portions that might give you pause...

RV LIFE Forum Hub, Wander The West Can you order a FWC with options deleted?

FWC is somewhat inflexible when it comes to deleting certain features. I asked the former owner, Tom about this...his reply was understandable. To paraphrase, FWC does not build "custom" campers. The manufacturing process is setup to build the camper's along stations in the factory. You...

RV LIFE Forum Hub, Wander The West FWC roof load problem

I don't think the FWC roof system is designed to carry much of a load on the exterior with the roof extended in the up position. I would likely unload the gear from the roof before popping it. I think you're asking for trouble if not injury by keeping that much weight on the roof with it...

RV LIFE Forum Hub, Wander The West Removed the head banging push bar

Lobster... Consider using locking snaps that are dimpled allowing them to release in only one direction. Orient the snap release towards the front lift panel. That way, any forces acting upon the front lift panel pushing it aft will not release the snap.

Using Gamma lids for many things over the years...never thought of using one for human waste. Gamma lids at Amazon. Toilet seat for 5 gallon bucket. Now we only need an entrepreneur to devise a toilet seat that works with the gamma seal! But after all said and done, might be at the same...

RV LIFE Forum Hub, Wander The West Ute Flatbed for Ford F250

Looks great!!! Regarding Super Duties...if you plan on going to a dedicated flatbed, it is generally better to order or buy a Super Duty Chassis Cab since the bed frame members are designed differently and lower compared to a dedicated pickup truck with bed. The assumption by Ford is you are...

A day late Happy Thanksgiving to all! We wandered over to a friends house on the Intracoastal Waterway north of Charleston. 20 people and enough food for 40! One lady brought 6 made from scratch pies. She even shucked the pecans for the bourbon chocolate pecan pieI I sampled them all and...

RV LIFE Forum Hub, Wander The West blown fuses in new FWC Hawk Atwood furnace

Continuous draw amperage will be less than amperage required to "light-off" the unit. "Light-off" is a momentary increase and generally several amps more than continuous draw in units such as this. Likewise, I saw continuous draw to be 3-4 amps in the online docs for the "small" Dometic...

RV LIFE Forum Hub, Wander The West blown fuses in new FWC Hawk Atwood furnace

Good question and welcome to WTW! While I have gleamed a lot of good info from the FWC folks, I think I would contact Dometic ( Atwood is now wholly owned and branded under Dometic). Increasing fuse amperage by 100% does not sound right to me. I am NOT an EE, but, as a retired airline pilot...

RV LIFE Forum Hub, Wander The West Thermostat reccomendations for Atwood heater?

Eddie... I have the Honeywell as well. My sinus's do not tolerate the dry heat very well either. I have to crack a roof vent or window to allow fresh air flow into the camper regardless of OAT. I've found a setting of 64F on the digital thermostat to be about right. Actual temp in the...
