RV LIFE Forum Hub, Wander The West Baja Trip report (partial); update on crossing into Baja and fuel (diesel, etc.)

Great news/brief report Kevin! Your report is pretty much what I found last year. We'll be following a route similar to yours in early April...for the umteenth time. Never gets old! Please publish your detail notes when able. It never amazes me about the golden Baja nuggets folks find one...

RV LIFE Forum Hub, Wander The West Eyebolts installation video

Excellent! When I moved my camper from my old Super Duty to my new SD last year, I just drilled the eye bolt holes in the same locations without knowing the "Why". Fortunately my dealer, Sean, has likely installed hundreds of campers so copying the old to new was spot on.

RV LIFE Forum Hub, Wander The West Treated myself to the New 2017 Dell XPS Laptop

Congrats with your DELL! Sounds almost like an Alienware laptop, which DELL bought several years ago. Alienware laptops were in a league of their own. I got fed up with DELL years ago after having to get up at 2AM in order to get through to their service support (which was overseas at the...

RV LIFE Forum Hub, Wander The West Baja Trip report (partial); update on crossing into Baja and fuel (diesel, etc.)

Baja has had LSD (Low Sulfur Diesel, 500 PPM max) for decades. USA diesel vehicles manufactured during (and after) 2007 require ULSD (Ultra Low Sulfur Diesel, 15 PPM max). USA and Europe mandated the use of ULSD in 2006.

RV LIFE Forum Hub, Wander The West Another Arctic Liner and Mattress Insulation

Nice! I use a similar setup during winter. It makes a huge difference on the windows both in terms of retained heat inside the camper and blocking cold air drafts.

RV LIFE Forum Hub, Wander The West RTIC Coolers

ARB has been making a top loading frig with these characteristics for years. However, a comparable frig will never be as efficient as a cooler because of the ports that must be cut/manufactured in a frig. But, the ARB frig is far more efficient than 99% of all rv/camper refrigerators installed...

RV LIFE Forum Hub, Wander The West RTIC Coolers

RTIC obtained its huge price advantage by using China for all of its manufacturing. And, by not utilizing a dealer network. Yeti Tundra coolers are made in Iowa and Wisconsin while the smallest unit is made in the Philippine Islands. Only the soft sided Yeti coolers and tumblers are made in...

RV LIFE Forum Hub, Wander The West RTIC Coolers

RTIC is having to discontinue and/or redesign all their products which infringed upon Yeti's designs and patents. From Yeti's press release... Austin, Texas (February 2, 2017) — YETI®, the leading premium cooler and drinkware brand, is pleased to announce that a binding settlement has been...

RV LIFE Forum Hub, Wander The West Question on setting up my InReach

Eddie... My preprogrammed msgs are: 1. Beginning today's travel. 2. Stopping for the day. All OK. 3. Will call or TM when in cell coverage. I like your #3. Not sure I'd want #4 activated without knowing the cost upfront. I try to keep mode of transport generic in the msg since I use so...

RV LIFE Forum Hub, Wander The West Hi-Lift Jack Mounted on FWC

If you mount to the camper, be sure the jack does not contact the truck, IF, you venture off groomed gravel roads. Truck frame/bed flexing can create angles between the truck and camper. If the jack is securely attached to the camper and contacts the bumper or some other part of the truck, you...

RV LIFE Forum Hub, Wander The West BF Goodrich All Terrain KO Tires - a Personal Critique

Strange...because per US DOT regulation, the answer to your question is stamped on every tire approved for sale in the US. My Michelin Load "E" 275/65R20 Note the 2 sidewall plies, but, a Load "E" rating is the equivalent to 10 plies. Rating number and actual number of sidewall plies are...

RV LIFE Forum Hub, Wander The West Buyers regret?

I opted for the interior lifts due to visiting the Outer Banks and encountering salt air and sea spray on the ferries. I thought the interior lifts would last longer if not subjected to corrosive salts. A side benefit to the interior lifts was noted by Sean (my dealer) when I was looking at...

RV LIFE Forum Hub, Wander The West BF Goodrich All Terrain KO Tires - a Personal Critique

MTs are Toyo's most aggressive tread pattern. Not sure I'd want them on any truck I run on the highway >50% of the time. Toyo has a 500 mile or 45 day "Trial Offer" on their tires. Don't like them, they will buy them back, including what you paid for mounting/balancing. Toyos are designed...

RV LIFE Forum Hub, Wander The West Anyone have a Swift on a Long Bed Tacoma or similar truck?

Thanks for posting! My wife just got a Tacoma TRD Offroad crew, long bed. She bought an orange (Toyota calls it Inferno Red) truck the same day her adopted Clemson Tigers beat Alabama! I say adopted, she went to Wake Forest which plays a different kind of football, they more or less...

RV LIFE Forum Hub, Wander The West Insurance for my wonderful new FWC?

Steve, check on a rider for your existing policy. Riders are generally less expensive than a stand-alone, specialty policy. While such a rider is offered in NC, OR may be different.

RV LIFE Forum Hub, Wander The West Buyers regret?

Great idea on the bump... We have the front dinette on the Hawk. I have no idea what the side windows are for since they are blocked by seat cushions 99.9% of the time. I suppose one is required as an emergency exit. If not, I would prefer not to have any windows on the sides of the hard...

I owned two sets of the BFG KO on my now sold 2003 F-250. They were great tires. Close to 50K on each set. Just before I sold my '03, I installed Toyo Open Country A/T IIs. What a difference in all aspects of driving, both highway and gravel roads. The Toyo Open Country were even better...
