    Northern California Coast Trip

Looks great. I'll be making a similar trip next week when I pick up my new Hawk (finally) at the factory and head out to the coast and take the long way home back to Washington state.

Can a first gen Nissan frontier take an FWC?

I had a 2000 Frontier King Cab 4WD with the 3.3 V6. I never had a camper on it but I used it quite a bit for hauling dirt and rocks for landscaping. The engine is great and is very well built but I always thought it was underpowered even when it was empty. When loaded it could handle it but it...

    Inverter Question

Well, you got me curious. I went out to my camper and connected my ResMed S9 CPAP to the 12 volt through the 12/24 volt adapter. It was a little over .1 amp on the 12 volt line while just plugged in with the CPAP lights still on (they take a few to go off). Running, it was maybe .6 amps (varies...

    Inverter Question

I did a little research and I found that they offer a 12V to 24V converter unit for my wife's CPAP which would be more power efficient than going through an inverter. I'm not sure how much current this unit draws yet. i think it depends on what settings she uses.

    Inverter Question

Thanks. I need about 100 watts to run my wife's CPAP machine. Looks like it might be doable.

    Inverter Question

Just wondering what the biggest power inverter you can use with the standard 12V outlets on a FWC camper? Trying to figure some things out before I get my camper. Thanks.

    Finally ordered my Hawk today

It's kind of weird as I've been reading this and other forums for almost two years now and while it's great to read all about these campers it's something else again to actually order one. Now it's going to be about 6 or 8 weeks until I get one.

    Finally ordered my Hawk today

Congrats and welcome to the 'unit ordered and now waiting' club. Out of curiosity, which seating arrangement did you choose? - steelhead Since I got the self contained model, I have the front dinette.

    Finally ordered my Hawk today

It's taken me a while to get to this point but I finally ordered a Hawk today. It's basically a loaded model with almost every option. It's quite exciting and now I'll have to wait a little while longer before I get it. Thanks to all the folks out there with all the great information.

    Upgraded Appliances

I have the Dometic 110, the largest one FWC offers. First of all, let me say that the frig keeps things very, very cool and the freezer keeps things very, very frozen. But…we found that going down rough roads, or even just hitting a large bump, like a speed bump, would cause the frig door to...

    Upgraded Appliances

We got the upgraded appliances in our Raven that we purchased back in March. We have spent about 40 nights in it so far. My wife likes them a lot. She says they are easy to clean and she does like the counter space when the lids are closed. The sink and stove have worked very well so far. They...

What to put a new Hawk on ...

I will second your thoughts on the new diesels. I went with the gas engine on my new truck and have been pleased. I went with the 3:73 gears. On the new GMs with the 6 speed auto the low gears are lower giving the equivalent of a 4:10 ratio that an older truck with the 4 speed auto had. I...

    Raven Ordered! [please wait...]

European silver/grey/black colors interior and exterior We personally found the standards blues and browns with the birch cabinets to look completely hideous. Our own personal opinion. When I saw the European colors I was like - Hey those are awesome. Turns out they can be purchased - not a...

"NEW" self-contained Fleet Model on Display

I will answer this one for Stan...No, there isn't any room to move the windows up, nor is there any room for the smaller window that you are speaking of. We understand that if two people are using the dinette you will not be able to see out the lower windows, but since you will be involved in...

Another 1/2 Ton versus 3/4 Ton Truck Question

Good looking truck, I like the color. Looks a little lonely though, I think it wants a Hawk on it's back! I have been hearing 16 to 18 MPG empty highway on these, any confirmation? I haven't driven it enough to get a good reading. I'm hoping for 15 myself. Anything better would be great. The...

Another 1/2 Ton versus 3/4 Ton Truck Question

Congratulations on the new truck. You won't regret going the 3/4 ton route! I have been been pricing out a similar truck (2012 crew cab LTZ 2500HD) and would like to hear your impressions, especially the gas mileage. I have heard everything from 12 to 17 empty on the highway. Hopefully the six...
