Slightly Bent Roof (Middle latches being the low point)

Thanks, I saw that, and thought the same thing.. I think you're correct. There have been a lot of encouraging posts about the topic, so I might try bending it back... I'll add it to the list of repair items. That'll be a good one for when the cooler weather gets here. (doesn't involve water...

Slightly Bent Roof (Middle latches being the low point)

Thanks sagebrush.. I must have seen those threads in the past as I have that idea in my mind (I'll try searching better).... I want to see how people have it supported before I try.. I did put blocks on the outside, near the latch locations and applied some force, but was afraid of the blocks...

Slightly Bent Roof (Middle latches being the low point)

I purchased my camper used a year ago, and the roof is slightly bent. It might have gotten worse once when I camped in the mountains in the spring and got an unexpected heavy snow over night. I wish I knew what originally happened to it, but do not. The passenger side middle latch location...

    Check Your Tie Down Bolts

TJ, Where are you located? Ozarks aren't in the west.. and neither am I.. I just got back from camping by a lovely shallow river in the ozarks. (Just gotta watch out for the locals.. Luckily I'm used to these people as I'm from the area.. but they seem to see the forest around their property...

    storing gas under camper?

I've got four rotopax stored 'under' my camper.. As well as the stock 18 gallon tank, plus an additional 12 gallon reserve tank. All are also under the flatbed which the camper sits on. But, as far as danger from gas, I think we all have a gas tank under our campers somewhere. I suppose the...

Anyone know what this rubber part is, fell off truck/camper.

OK figured it out.. Time to laugh.. (which is how I expected this to resolve) It's the foot of the ladder I was using to wash the top of the camper...

    FWC, food and bears

I got back from a hike on my last trip, walking back towards the camper. There's a lake past the camper. (In the mountains in CO). I thought I saw a guy hunched over near the lake. Kept walking towards 'him', and then it got down on all 4 legs and walked away into the woods. It was a big...

Anyone know what this rubber part is, fell off truck/camper.

There's no metal on this.. But it was under the exhaust side of the truck, so I will look all around there tomorrow. Someone on the truck forum posted a pic of Bazooka chewing gum, and it's a pretty close match, but I tried it, and this doesn't taste good :). Others are saying isolation...

Anyone know what this rubber part is, fell off truck/camper.

This pad is only about 1.5x1". I'm not sure how big spring pads are.. If they're as wide as the leafs, then this isn't that.. And I know about the thin pads that go between the leafs, but where would a pad of this thickness go? Under the entire pack, where it mounts to the frame or axle?

Rear looks like it had a press-in type fitting that tore off.

Anyone know what this rubber part is, fell off truck/camper.

Hello, I just got back from a few weeks in the mountains, on rough roads. Doing my post-trip cleanup. Truck is parked on my driveway. Went out this morning, and found this rubber thing under the truck.. Anyone know what it is? I don't think it's from inside the camper.. Likely something from...

    Communication with Four wheel camper

I too have never had a reply from them.. Multiple emails and calls. Multiple times over the past year. Never a response. One time as a test I emailed their sales department w/ a presales fake question and received a reply almost immediately. But, that same email address ignored the other 10...

Dispersed Camping Impacts on Rural Counties

I've been talking to someone on another forum and he let me know a week or so ago that he's a retired forester. Used to design/plan the roads. I of course had a 1000 questions about that, and in the end basically got out of him that the majority of the roads he planned for were for loggers to...

Dispersed Camping Impacts on Rural Counties

While I am a very responsible person. And environmentalist. I LOVE the woods, and don't want to see them damaged. We have to be realistic. At least when speaking about the national forests. Look at what they let industry get away with on forest lands!! The campers are doing nothing in...

Airing down tires with camper on

Manufacturers aren't known for taking risks. Quite the opposite. So yeah. No surprise they aren't going to 'suggest' lowering pressure in any circumstance. Then some idiot who has no idea why they are doing it, will decide to do it when there's a bit of snow on the ground, and run at highway...

"The Hum" (Low frequency industrial/oil/gas noise)

Anyone else notice the pervasive low frequency noise that's out in the west now? Seems to get worse every year. At least in southwestern Colorado. It really bothers me. It is at the low range of hearing. Passes through everything. Has a 'beat frequency' going on, as I think it is multiple...

Superelastic Tire: A viable alternative to the pneumatic tire

I'm old and am starting to get used to old news being posted as new... But tires like this have been made for the automotive industry already.. 20-30 years ago I first saw them. They were a rubber mesh.. OH, I just did a google search.. "airless tire". They're still around. I guess these...

Airing down tires with camper on

I just got back from a 2 week trip in Colorado and Utah yesterday. Drove through the 'point of no return" road in sand dunes national park. I didn't air down at first.. Well, I was slightly aired down from driving on a really rough road near the park (the waterfall). I'm usually at 50 front...

    How're Ya'll Installing Backup Cameras?

Anyone know of any cameras that are less fish-eye than the usual? I added a switch to my tacoma that lets me turn on its reverse cam any time I want.. Anyone w/ a Tacoma have to change a tire? (Jack good enough?)

Has anyone had to change a tire on their Tacoma w/ FWC? I'm wondering if the OEM jack is good enough. I really dread the thought of a flat while out on bad 'offroad' roads.. There is nothing safe about that situation w/ a little bottle jack and unstable ground.. Especially on an extra heavy...
