    Toyota Tacoma Brakes

I'll buy the truck if you buy me the new larger camper which fits on the larger truck (and the flatbed it sits on), and widen all the trails I drive down.. Which are not wide enough for a full size F250 size truck.

    Toyota Tacoma Brakes

I spent the morning doing a bit of searching.. On recommendations from people on the tacoma forums: https://sosperformance.com/products/tr340-dot-6ta-6-piston-front-big-brake-kit-fits-17-plus-wheels-2005-21-tacoma People say these fit 16" wheels. There is a 16" wheel rotor option when ordering...

    Toyota Tacoma Brakes

How are your brakes in general? My tacoma doesn't like to stop.. it's scary. I have to push the pedal down as hard as I can to get any stopping power. I've never skidded or had ABS engage because they never grip enough to cause the wheels to lose traction. I mean.. It's fine for average...

Four Wheel Campers Hawk - Tundra Fit

That is a nice way to put that, Paul, compared to what I see in other forums :). I'd probably find some straps that I could tighten around the pipes, and somehow mount to the truck. Maybe throw some VHB tape in the mix. Depends on how easily or often you want to disassemble. Actually...

Water lines and pump, how cold is too cold?

I have to admit, I didn't do anything special w/ my camper this winter. I used a lot over the winter, so didn't really want to put antifreeze in it, etc. But it sat out unused over a bunch of 20 degree nights, and down to below zero a few times. All I did was open the faucet on the sink, open...

    Newby - first post

Hi, I'm in MO. Been going out to the national forests a couple times a month, or one long trip each month since I got my rig last Sep. Mine is a bit more off road than yours, and I try to avoid camp grounds.. I drive down forest roads, and then down unmapped branch roads, and find great places...

F150 2.7L payload package plus Hawk

Maybe consider an offroad package chevy colorado and fleet, if you want a mostly stock truck. I'm not sure of the details of the suspension it comes with, but it might work. They've got several different packages related to towing and load and offroad. I personally am VERY happy I don't have...

Tire and wheel choice for hauling FWC

I was recently looking at weight ratings for my tires, and doing the chalk test stuff, etc. And got to thinking.. Do we really need E rated tires? Mine are E rated.. KO2's. Bought my truck used. The previous owner kept the pressures at 65 front, 75 rear. After doing the chalk test, I'm...

    Maxx Air Fan

"ANY" is definitely wrong. There are always two aspects to electricity.. The voltage AND the current. You need one that can support the max amps of the fan, plus at least 50% for a safety margin.. (Most manufacturers, especially the inexpensive Chinese ones, exaggerate their ratings)...

    Flatbed Bolts, How Tight?

Thank's rando. I think you and I have quite similar vehicles..

    Flatbed Bolts, How Tight?

About the V shape plate... I bought this truck used in Oct, so I don't have all the details.. The flatbed appears to be made from aluminum tube, laid side by side, similar to how you'd lay a wood deck, then welded together. There are definitely plank sections of aluminum, all welded together...

    Flatbed Bolts, How Tight?

Thanks, I could definitely make those work. Although personally, I don't plan on removing the camper. Maybe more bolts would be a good idea.. I saw someone else post that their 2015 camper was held down w/ 6 bolts.. Mine is also 2015, but they only used four. I haven't had any problems, but...

    Flatbed Bolts, How Tight?

I checked the bolts on my camper, and none were free spinning, but they were all equally loose. I didn't really have a wrench big enough to tighten them, and had some other work to do on my truck, so got a BIG socket wrench. (A flatbed to frame bolt was cracked off, and a few other bolts...

Couldn't stop going down hill in snow.

thanks for the additional replies. What Buckland says is what a couple guys told me in person as well. I need a practice hill w/out drop-off of death on one side, to test the various suggestions :). I really think if I were in 4 lo, and just rolling, I'd have been fine.. But there does...

Price Guidance - Used 2011 FWC Hawk

If you want a reasonable price for a friend, see if you can find pre-pandemic sales for your price research. Because as others have said, people are paying a lot for them at the moment.

    Telescopes

I have basically that same shot.. Got it completely blind.. I just knew where in the sky it was, set it for a long exposure and hoped for the best. It turned out great! I'll post one from my last trip out, which happens to be on this computer... Sorry again for slightly OT, but seems a good...

    Any Advice for ReSealing Everything

My camper is about 6 years old, and showing a little age. The edges of a lot of the sealant (around windows, the roof, various other protrusions, etc) are pulling away. No leaks, but I can see it's not 'glued' in place anymore. SO, next project is resealing everything.. I've got some tubes...

    Telescopes

Not quite the same, but has anyone done long exposure night shots? I use my telephoto lens. Long exposure. Then can zoom in on the final pic since cameras have such high pixel counts these days, and see some incredible details you'd never see otherwise. It helps my camera has a star tracker...

Couple things I noticed at 5 degrees F.

That insulating liner looks great! I've done everything else.. Insulated the walls inside the cabinets (But not the hard walls outside cabinets). Made rigid insulation covers for the windows. I never camped before doing those things, but have been out several times this winter, down to zero...

    Lithium advantage for cold weather.

I 2nd this.. I just made a post last week in the electrical section of this forum about building your own. I built a 200ah w/ heater for about $600.00. It's easy. No need to pay more than double the price for a commercial offering. https://www.wanderthewest.com/forum/topic/21236-diy-lithium/

    DIY Lithium

Not for Lithium.. it still stops charging at freezing. There was a different issue where even lead would stop charging around freezing, and the new temp sensor fixes that issue, so the lead batteries can charge down to 20 below or something. At least, that's what I understood from my reading...

    DIY Lithium

Thanks for the reply. You're correct, but the manufacturer of my charging system decided to err on the side of caution. It stops charging at 0c and cannot be changed. (RedArc.. has its pluses and minuses.. lack of any program customization is a major down side)
