    Manual vs automatic transmission?

One big thing that I like about a manual trans is when climbing mountains, YOU get to pick the gear and the trans doesn't hunt for the right gear. With my auto tranny on the Ford you put it in any gear you want...manually....so I guess it's like a manual tranny in that regard. Also...my truck...

    Manual vs automatic transmission?

I've had manual transmission 4X4's my entire life until the last two vehicles. I am now a big auto tranny fan. Getting old I guess.

    Cabinet install

Thanks guys, I called 4 wheel to get a price quote and have decided to do the install myself. Here come the famous last words "How hard can it be?" Really I should have no problems as long as I tap into the wall framing. When you pick it up just ask Terry or Chicalli for some technical advise...

    Wave versus Furnace

Is that a warning :o Man....you've got to be so careful on this forum. I meant I don't sleep with any propane appliances on.

    Wave versus Furnace

I prefer the furnace. It heats quickly and can be run by a thermostadt so I can program the heat to come on 1/2 hour before I get up. I don't sleep with anything on....just a couple of vents open.

    Low Cost Mods

I like that volt meter. I will be adding one. It became kind of redundant after adding the solar system since the remote meter displays the same information (plus a lot more)...

    XPCamper V2- Concept

I would actually prefer a little bit of "soft side" if it meant that the entire roof would move upward providing a full level roof as opposed to the current slanted design. The slanted design always seemed so cramped to me on other rigs (vans).

    Low Cost Mods

Double your $10.00 limit but a big bang for the buck. I put a digital programmable thermostat on the heater, $19.00 at Home Depot. Programmed to shut down after we are in bed and comes on just before I want to get up. Note doubles as an alarm clock  . Used it everyday on my big tip...

    Faucet Upgrade

My 2006 seems to be metal, but it barely cleared the sink. For under $6 and a lot less trouble, I added a double swivel faucet nozzle from the local hardware store. If I pull it out, it transforms to an aerated stream, push, regular solid water stream. I can point it to wash down all...

    Hawk vs Fleet

Well since you are upgrading your truck....might as well get a 3/4 ton of you favorite flavor. Then it would be a great truck for the Hawk. A 3/4 ton truck is not physically much larger than a Tundra...but the difference between a 1/2 ton and 3/4 ton truck while hauling a Hawk camper is night...

Roof Mounted Solar Panel Vs Honda Generator

Here's a tip for you guys getting the solar wiring done to prepare for a solar install down the road. Make sure you specify that FWC locates the wires on the roof top and terminates them with their waterproof solar connector. Otherwise....you won't know where they terminate on the roof and...

Just a quick update. In AZ this morning, Joshua Tree Nat Park tonight. Should be home on Thursday night. Not quite 4 weeks on the road. Will get a full report and more pictures up next week. Hawk has worked great no major problems. Bill Thanks for the update. I'll be in Arizona for the month...

    Hawk vs Fleet

When my girlfriend and I went to the FWC factory and went inside an Eagle....we both felt cramped....but we felt fine inside the Hawk. A little bit of extra room goes a long ways.

Roof Mounted Solar Panel Vs Honda Generator

I really wish I had the time to spend camping to really worry about power. As it is now I can run heater, freezer and make microwave popcorn without making a dent in my three batteries over a weekend. What set up do you have that allows the microwave use? Are you using an inverter? If...

Roof Mounted Solar Panel Vs Honda Generator

OK, Ramblinman, order that panel and the following controller & remote meter. That is my exact solar set up. Same panel, controller, remote meter and the same two batteries. The only thing different is I also installed the remote battery temperature sensor since my batteries and controller...

Roof Mounted Solar Panel Vs Honda Generator

What about getting the Solar outlet installed and purchasing one of the portable Solar panels which hopefully I could position in direct sunlight, put on the roof where ever. Is this a possibility? I have no experience with this stuff. I am wondering if this would give me the best of both...

Roof Mounted Solar Panel Vs Honda Generator

With a little research you can put together a solar system cheaper than FWC charges. If you are not handy at wiring then you should just get the factory installed system. I like the solar system as it is handy under the right conditions. The Waeco DC refrigerator should not impact my...
