RV LIFE Forum Hub, Wander The West Roof Mounted Solar Panel Vs Honda Generator

I like my solar system and it works just fine at times.....but the problem with solar is you can't always depend on consistant sunshine. Even in the Arizona desert (I grew up in AZ...spent 30 years there) the sun doesn't always cooperate. My last trip to Arizona two years ago.....I had some of...

RV LIFE Forum Hub, Wander The West My New FWC Order!

The shower is actually probably not going to be the first thing to break. I wonder if I could convert mine to the DSI? I didn't even know that was an option. Just do the relighter mod like I did and it's a snap to light.

RV LIFE Forum Hub, Wander The West Roof Mounted Solar Panel Vs Honda Generator

I have a 120 watt roof mounted solar panel with two 105 ah (group 31's) batteries for storage. I am planning a future upgrade from my 3-way refrigerator to a 12v dc such as the Waeco CR-1110. About 99.5% of the time I'm camped alone....so generator noise is not an issue. There are times...

RV LIFE Forum Hub, Wander The West Marker lights?

Anyone know what the deal on marker lights is? From what I'm reading it seems over 80" wide requires them, my 2000 FWC Hawk is 80.5" on the camper and 81" on the roof and just has a couple reflectors. Looks like some of the newest FWCs have marker lights now but for years there was nothing...

RV LIFE Forum Hub, Wander The West FWC rear awning

Is the Factory rear Awning worth the money? It was worth it to me since I wanted something that was sturdy and professional looking. The FWC design is very nice and well thought out. I am not much good at fabrication....so I decided to leave it to the pros. You'll have to be the judge...

RV LIFE Forum Hub, Wander The West FWC rear awning

So, could you tell how the awning is strapped up there?? The FWC factory awning isn't strapped to the camper when stored. It is rolled up and kept inside the camper. When deployed....the top of the awning is attached by slipping a round whelt into a channel....then the poles go through holes...

LEADSLED: Did run into one small problem with the wind deflector. It rubbed a small hole in the front of the camper!! Keep an eye on yours. Lots of rough roads. No biggie... Otherwise, it worked awesome You mean the wind deflector that I used to have on my Tundra? I don't have a wind...

It also stays attatched and rolls up. So easy... Nice job randygirl! How about a picture of it rolled up? Very well thought out. I have no fabrication skills so I just bought one from FWC.

RV LIFE Forum Hub, Wander The West What rack should I have installed?

One thing to consider is that you are mounting all of these high power struts into thin wall tubing with small sheet metal screws. If you get too ridiculous with them you might compromise long term reliability of the frame or roof.

RV LIFE Forum Hub, Wander The West What rack should I have installed?

I faced the same question when I was ordering my camper. I wanted to maximize future options so I had both installed. Of the two systems the Yakima system is the sturdiest. I didn't want to do an aftermarket install myself since the roof penetration and sealing issues are critical. I have...

RV LIFE Forum Hub, Wander The West AC mounting question

One the main water tank has run out of water, has anyone figured out a way to get access to the 4-6 gallons of water stored in the hot water tank? The only way I've figured to do it would be to remove the drain plug on the outside of the heater and drain the water into a bucket. That's the...

RV LIFE Forum Hub, Wander The West AC mounting question

A little off topic I'm not to worried about the amount of water. I'm concerned about using an AC that is a little restricted ideas anyone? I'm guessing that the ac unit mounted in the cabinet would be somewhat restricted. The factory FWC ac unit hangs out of the back wall so it is totaly...

I have 200 ah of batteries....two Sears Diehard Platinum AGM's....135 watt solar panel. I also own a Honda 2000 and a Honda 1000 generator. I much prefer the 1000. It is quieter...lighter...and will run all night on a tiny bit of gas. Provides all of the juice I ever need except when I run...
