RV LIFE Forum Hub, Wander The West My thoughts on Overland Journals FWC article

Thanks DLN. I subscribe to hunting magazines, ATV magazines, gun magazines, archery magazines, 4X4 magazines etc. They all do reviews on equipment.....and it always seems they don't have much bad to say about any brand of merchandise, precisely for the reason you guys have mentioned. They...

RV LIFE Forum Hub, Wander The West My thoughts on Overland Journals FWC article

DD, we added two fold down doors with mag latches and safety travel latches at that location, added usable space and made access much better then the sliders. DLN, I have the hinged doors on my cabinet in my Hawk. Could you please post a link or a picture of your travel latches? I want to...

RV LIFE Forum Hub, Wander The West Mr. Heater

Any advice on which model to get? Little Buddy seems nice and compact, but only 3,800 BTU's. Is that enough to heat up a truck camper? Portable Buddy has a hi & lo temp setting. Big Buddy has much more power and a fan. I think the Little Buddy may be the ticket for occasional use in a small...

RV LIFE Forum Hub, Wander The West WTB Four Wheel or All Terrain Camper for 2007 Tundra

I played the waiting game with cash in hand for several months looking for a good late model used Hawk. I finally decided that life was too short and ordered a new one from FWC. All I can advise you to do is have the cash ready and be prepared to jump if a suitable unit should become...

RV LIFE Forum Hub, Wander The West Artical on butt splices, crimpers, tinned wire, heat shrink

I looked at that one but mainly I'd be intersted in 2 dies sets. I got the one set and frame for normal insulated terminals for $20, if I can find something similar in the $20-30 range that does a good non-insulated crimp I'd rather do that. Less money and no need to switch dies. If you have...

RV LIFE Forum Hub, Wander The West Artical on butt splices, crimpers, tinned wire, heat shrink

I ended up going with this one since it has multiple dies to deal with insulated and non-insulated terminals: http://www.amazon.com/Tool-Aid-18920-Ratcheting-Terminal/dp/B0002STTTI

I've hated my crimpers for a while now. Didn't even know about ratcheting crimpers. Have one on order now. Which one did you order?

RV LIFE Forum Hub, Wander The West Artical on butt splices, crimpers, tinned wire, heat shrink

I question every crimp I have made using my cheapo crimpers. I too think it's time to retire them (or more likely put them in the truck's tool box). I recently bought a pair of ratching crimpers for Anderson Powerpole connectors and I was very impressed with the quality of the connections they...

you really want a auto-reset breaker. like pods said, if you run down your house batt it will trip that breaker a few times during the first minutes after your isolator connects it to your truck charging system. Well, OK then. I quess I'll put the auto-reset breaker back in.

Nice find! Do you have a source for these covers? Mine breakers are wrapped in electrical tape but these covers sure look better! I got them here for $1.62 each. http://www.wiringproducts.com/contents/en-us/d11.html

Right on! That's why I found this site 11 months ago...and I'm generally in the "less-knowledgeable" group when it comes to RV/truck-gear, so I've mostly been a knowledge recipient. Not sure. How would you define environmental? I do not support these groups....but a couple of examples would be Greenpeace and the Sierra Club.

OHVs, ORVs, ATVs are fine for trails especially designated for them. As a photographer, I do NOT like tracks in my pics. In your very first sentence you state that "OHVs, ORVs, ATVs are fine for trails especially designated for them". Then you drive to the Coral Pink Sand Dunes State Park in...

RV LIFE Forum Hub, Wander The West Should I be concerned?

I can't see a picture of the cracks you speak of from the link. If you are referring to cracks above or around the door frame.....then YES....you should be concerned. It means the frame has cracked under the skin and it needs to be addressed. Attached is a picture of a crack that formed above...

I guess I'm getting confused about this new "Advocacy Group" idea in this forum. I'm all for heading in a direction that will help support this forum as I've learned a lot here and I would like to see the forum survive. Land closure is a very controversial subject and is bound to create lots...

Hey guys, does FWC issue a VIN number with each new camper or a serial number? Steve with FWC said they get a 6 digit serial number(no VIN), but I'm being asked for a VIN number by our insurance company. What's the deal? When you pick up you camper you will receive a document called a...

Well I conquered my electronic fears and have rewired everything. I had the battery load tested and it checked good. I've got the ground wire attached to the frame and I'm showing 13.8 volts going into the battery separator, 12.8 coming out. I thought I had it in the bag but for some reason...
