RV LIFE Forum Hub, Wander The West Do You Carry Heavy Duty Chain?

When I was eight my older brother bought a beater car sans engine. I was enlisted to steer it home. His clever solution was to thread a chain thru a ten foot length of water pipe and then fasten chain tightly to tow car and towed car. We made it ten or twelve miles to home, in the dark of...

RV LIFE Forum Hub, Wander The West Go camping under stay at home order?

Hello there Soooooo, the weather is getting nice and I've got the itch to take a trip here in CO. But, we are on stay at home orders until May 8 now (thank you Boulder county). What are other adventurous campers doing? Why can it be that you are asking an online forum of folks how they feel...

RV LIFE Forum Hub, Wander The West Columbia and Snake rivers

Do try and keep an eye on fire season...we were once returning down from Lolo pass and got held up while they refilled choppers from the river along side the highway...over our heads...very smokey and a bit frightening....as in should we really be here ??? David Graves

RV LIFE Forum Hub, Wander The West Crater Lake

For Crater Lake Trivia: A few years ago a visitor's car somehow rolled over the edge and went all the way down....with their dog inside. The dog came back up ! Its true !!!! I read it in the Oregonian. I was not there and have no photos. David Graves

RV LIFE Forum Hub, Wander The West Modern Ghost Towns of BC, CA

Hi Allan We have had somewhat the same experiences with wild things up Island....I am not sure why. It is by no means a wilderness area with all the logging traffic...maybe just enough of a mix that the critters can survive. I SURE would not have wanted any animal running toward me unexpected...

RV LIFE Forum Hub, Wander The West Curious, Stronger bottle jack needed?

I say buy every thing your credit card can handle and then the whole rig will weigh too much to get out of your driveway.....don't forget the snorkel......and an adventure hat with the little strap under your chin. COOL !

RV LIFE Forum Hub, Wander The West Camper dolly height.

Howdy Just ask the seller to measure the distance from bottom of the jacks to the bottom of the camper......and or to the to of the camper itself. If the jacks are mounted on the camper now it is a very straightforward thing to measure.....

RV LIFE Forum Hub, Wander The West Modern Ghost Towns of BC, CA

Howdy Dave You tube is full of videos into many of these towns. As much as I dislike some folks trespass ethics, the film footage can be very interesting. I guess it all depends on what our interests are....mine are history and natural history combined. BC has a LOT of both. David Graves

RV LIFE Forum Hub, Wander The West Modern Ghost Towns of BC, CA

Howdy Neighbors to the north ! I have always wondered why there seem to be lots of "abandoned" towns in BC ? Is it the weather ? Is it changing economies ? I would love to hear from those who may have visited some of these places. We have spent some time around Tahsis on two different trips...

Howdy I am not familiar with your type FWC camper but wanted to say one can generally shift or relocate an FWC Hawk little by little on the truck bed without jacks. Do you only need to shift things a bit after loosening the turnbuckles? David

RV LIFE Forum Hub, Wander The West Using Receiver Hitch As A Lifting Point With A High Lift Jack

We have a shorty 12K pound bottle jack left over from our days with the GMC motorhome....I think it is only about 8" tall closed. Of course it will only lift about 4 more inches but that is why God created rocks.

RV LIFE Forum Hub, Wander The West Using Receiver Hitch As A Lifting Point With A High Lift Jack

Just in time for this thread I managed to bury our Kubota 4 WD tractor the other day working along our riverfront. I was reminded of Murphy's third corollary which states "It better to engage brain prior to getting your tractor stuck." It was a good reminder that there is seldom one tool...

RV LIFE Forum Hub, Wander The West Self Quarantine Things to Do

Hey David Your wonderful memory above reminds me of a little town campground on a pond upper Vancouver Island....someone made a pretty small little stone castle near the restrooms....about the size of a wheel barrow. Closer inspection made me think it had been created to celebrate your Monarch...

RV LIFE Forum Hub, Wander The West Using Receiver Hitch As A Lifting Point With A High Lift Jack

Hi Phil Thanks for the reply. Our hitches are designed and attached to truck frame in order to carry a down load. There may be no way to know what UP load they might carry. They remain the best lift point, in my dirt farmer opinion, if one needs to lift the entire front or rear a little bit...

RV LIFE Forum Hub, Wander The West Using Receiver Hitch As A Lifting Point With A High Lift Jack

Hi Phil Ask the engineer and company who design and market the High Lift Jack you own and use...and their lawyers. Your response was a bit snippy...if you are not looking for members opinions then don't ask on a member based internet forum. If you are asking members of this forum to...

RV LIFE Forum Hub, Wander The West Using Receiver Hitch As A Lifting Point With A High Lift Jack

Hi Phil What are you really asking ? A factory designed class 3 or better frame mounted hitch would no doubt be a robust lift point . That said, there is no reason to assume it is safe to lift the entire rear of the vehicle 12 inches off the ground to change the tires or something. What...

Thousands left Portland and headed to the coast recently ....in order to all stand around looking at each other. RV LIFE Forum Hub, Wander The West Purchased first FWC (used). Remodeling questions!

RV LIFE Forum Hub, Wander The West bed sliding out when driving!

On this topic We each sleep cross ways....one up and one down....our Hawk shell model has a cross bunk at the lower front. In the upper bunk the forward portion houses plastic boxes which gets them out of the way and makes a bedside table. We typically swap who sleeps where every other night...
