RV LIFE Forum Hub, Wander The West Your Top Spots to See in America?

Well, maybe I'm a little out of step here but I've gone to a lot of places where I would definitely not want to spend "a lifetime of future discovery." There are a lot of wonderful places but I've been to some pretty bad ones too. This is all very subjective: Many of the places I dislike are...

RV LIFE Forum Hub, Wander The West Truck longevity data (this should start some conversation)

Is this not a better measure of which vehicles turn over less often, than of the actual longevity of the vehicles?

RV LIFE Forum Hub, Wander The West Post Processing Technique

Thank you both for your comments. You both have provided me with support for my inclination to stay away from one more step with no real purpose as far as I can see.

RV LIFE Forum Hub, Wander The West Post Processing Technique

DNG files. Anyone converting their camera raw files to them? Pros and cons in working with them? It seems that the primary selling point is that the DNG files provide some protection against camera companies which might stop supporting their raw files; or is it sort of a protection racket...

RV LIFE Forum Hub, Wander The West Best Type of Heater?

I'll second the Propex recommendation. I also installed one that I bought from Westy Ventures and am very happy with it. My experience with propane furnaces is very limited, but the Propex is quieter than the one furnace I had the misfortune to be camped next to.

RV LIFE Forum Hub, Wander The West Lightroom Newbie

Thank you both for the prompt replies! It sounds to me like neither of you is disappointed with Raw editing within Lightroom, but each of you finds it necessary to use other processing as well, either Photoshop or the Google Nik collection. Since I am comfortable (almost) with Photoshop I...

RV LIFE Forum Hub, Wander The West Lightroom Newbie

I would like to revive this thread to ask some more Lightroom questions. I too am a newbie. (or at least am contemplating becoming one) I just subscribed to CC because my old version of Photoshop, CS4, and the Adobe Camera Raw that it supports could not handle the ARW raw files from my new Sony...

I figure keeping my camper exactly centered allows me to be a little eccentric myself!

Sounds great to me! It would be nice to meet some of you folks face to face. Sign me up for Tuff Guy's geology class.

RV LIFE Forum Hub, Wander The West Camper Install by Crane

Gantry crane is an interesting idea. I think the easiest way would be to fabricate a square steel framework with cables that drop directly to the 4 jack mounts. Attach to jack mounts with shackles with pins that will fit through the holes in the jack mounts. The steel frame could be dangled...

http://www.nps.gov/deva/planyourvisit/weather.htm The chart on the bottom of this page will give you a snapshot of the weather month-by-month in DV. For someone who loves to hike and explore I will recommend a hike up Marble Canyon with its narrow passages, high rock walls, wide-open sections...

RV LIFE Forum Hub, Wander The West el nino coming

Some of my most enjoyable times in D.V. have been when the weather turns "bad." Wading at Badwater, almost snowed in at the Chloride Cliffs and again in Hanging Rock Canyon, watching the flood waters devour half of the Texas Springs Campground. Nothing has given me a better appreciation of...

RV LIFE Forum Hub, Wander The West Off Road Tire Pressure - How Low Do You Go?

With 235/85 R16 tires on a 6,000# Tacoma I will air down to 30psi for really sandy stuff or very loose steep rock but have not yet found a need to go any lower.

"...the very occasional winching duties..." Winching draws a heck of a lot of juice! It can run down even 2 batteries pretty quick. Good to have a system in place that keeps your starting battery out of the winching loop... or be sure to leave the engine running at all times while winching.

Many thanks for the report and the inspiration to, one day, visit Leopold's farm and Muir's birthplace. From Leopold's Sand County Almanac: We shall never achieve harmony with the land, any more than we shall achieve absolute justice or liberty for people. In these higher aspirations the...
