DNG files. Anyone converting their camera raw files to them? Pros and cons in working with them? It seems that the primary selling point is that the DNG files provide some protection against camera companies which might stop supporting their raw files; or is it sort of a protection racket...

I'll second the Propex recommendation. I also installed one that I bought from Westy Ventures and am very happy with it. My experience with propane furnaces is very limited, but the Propex is quieter than the one furnace I had the misfortune to be camped next to.

"...the very occasional winching duties..." Winching draws a heck of a lot of juice! It can run down even 2 batteries pretty quick. Good to have a system in place that keeps your starting battery out of the winching loop... or be sure to leave the engine running at all times while winching.
