    Trashcan Mount

Field Test Update: This system has earned a permanent spot on my rig now. It has served me well for about 70 days camping so far. I was bringing the can in as we drove, but it now just lives hanging on the bumper full time. I learned that if I flip the bucket handle over, it locks securely...

Son in law purchased a 2006 Hawk. And it has no shock things. There is no sign of attachment points. Did that year not have the assist mechanisms?

I have a Ryobi chainsaw that runs off the same battery as my other tools. I use this 12v charger for the batteries so no need for inverter. https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B0026SRQEM/ref=ppx_yo_dt_b_search_asin_title?ie=UTF8&psc=1 This allows me to always have a battery for my drill, impact...

    Fire Heat Deflector

After noticing one of these in a post from Longhorn1, I've been looking around at options. They are quite pricy so I may try to make my own. The one used by Longhorn1 stands vertically around the fire pit. In my search I have also seen a deflector with legs that sits above the fire and reflects...

    Birding and Tech, a project

Very cool. We have really enjoyed the accuracy of the Merlin app. As an educator myself this little thing looks like a fun project with many uses. I may get one as something to tinker with this winter. If it’s anything like last winter I will have plenty of indoor project time on my hands.

Wandering from Tennesse to Alaska 2023

Nice salmon!!!!! If you are still in Homer swing by Renn Tolman's boat shop. He passed away in 2014, but I think his cousin is carrying on the tradition and still building the iconic skiff. Snap some photos! I've always wanted to see the shop. I have built a couple skiffs using his plans. Simple...

Airbags, Springs, Sumo Springs with a camper - quick removal solution of Sumo Springs when no camper

I have had 3 trucks now all with super springs. No rough ride when empty as they only engage when a load is present. I even have them on a K5 blazer that is a beast off road, but also used as a "ranch truck". Right now I have around 800 pounds of flagstone that I just picked up in her. Hardly...

    roof lifting helper shocks thingys

I find it amazing the amount of vacuum that is created when lifting the top. Door latched open no problem. If the door is in the opening even the slightest, wow is it hard to lift the top. I spaced out one time and was trying to open the camper in the rain. Door was just crack and the top...

linseed is great stuff! Just make sure to no put the soaked rags bunched up in the garbage. I've know two separate folks who've started big fires because of that improper disposal. One neighbor lost his house to the fire.

Battery compartment lid Hawk side dinette

I removed the additional shelf all together. This allowed me the room to install a 206ah lithium and gives me over 5 times the storage capacity of the factory LA battery.

I went down a size on my Toyo AT3s and am very happy. Lowered my GVWR and got me better MPG.
