RV LIFE Forum Hub, Wander The West Hawk side window curtains

Closed. Just camped in mid 20*F and there was a very noticeable difference in warmth and heat retention when we closed ALL the curtains.

RV LIFE Forum Hub, Wander The West Composting toilet install, Flatbed Hawk

Attaching to 3/4 plywood floor should be sufficient. If you are looking for the belt AND suspenders approach, you could also use some 4200 in the screw holes. This would also seal the wood in the holes where the screws are. In my opinion, it would be best to not penetrate the floor completely.

RV LIFE Forum Hub, Wander The West Nor Cal Fall Float'n

Yes, we are 4 years in on these ones (Inlet model) and have many many nautical miles and great trips under our belt. When close to home we can fit two of them in the trunk of a Honda Civic for quick strike missions. My wife can (and often does) grab hers and goes for afternoon solo paddles in...

RV LIFE Forum Hub, Wander The West Nor Cal Fall Float'n

It does indeed. We have been guilty of cooling off there trying to escape the summer heat. Also a nice place when it is foggy on the coast. This time of year we only saw one other person.

We had a nice float down the river this weekend. Great time of year to get out and about.

RV LIFE Forum Hub, Wander The West water proof cover

I use a cover made for a class B RV. It is listed as weather resistant, but I also have camper stored under an aluminum shed. Not the perfect fit but it does keep the elements off the camper. I will eventually have my marine canvas guy make a custom cover out of sunbrella.

RV LIFE Forum Hub, Wander The West Agm battery replacement

In my opinion, a 75ah AGM has insufficient storage capacity for our rigs with only 37.5ah of usable power. I would recommend getting the largest 12v (or combo of 6v) ah battery you can fit, also remember that they are super heavy. I know you mentioned not wanting lithium (perhaps due to...

RV LIFE Forum Hub, Wander The West Agm battery replacement

I have had amazing results from VMAX AGM batteries. I have a set of 155ah that were in my camper for 5 years then moved to my off grid cabin for the last 5 years. 10 years old and still running strong. I never let them get below 50% ever. I have also used VMAX in several boats as a trolling...

Found some 3lb trout at the end of this rainbow. I sure wish we could post photos of bigger size on here. Most of my pics say they are too large and wont load?????? Anyway, another great trip to a beautiful place!

RV LIFE Forum Hub, Wander The West Quick Sierra Run

Ran up to winterize my buddies cabin at Shaver lake, then headed out for some dispersed camping on US Forest Land. Great fishing at Shaver, three bald eagles lead us to the back of the lake where we found a school of Kokanee chilling at the base of the stream. Wishon reservoir offered an...

RV LIFE Forum Hub, Wander The West Looking to replace/ upgrade batteries

I began with the stock FWC 75ah AGM. This provided only 37.5 ah of usable power. This was not nearly enough and would drain down to almost useless in a day. Only form or charging was from the truck alternator and 130 watt solar panel. Upgraded to 100 ah lithium. This now gave me 100 ah of...

I would make sure that if you plan to have FWC do the instal that they are ok with you providing the parts. I have had issues with some service places only installing parts that they have provided. I think it has something to do with their warranty.

RV LIFE Forum Hub, Wander The West Vengeance (warning: minor gore)

In the barn it's rats in the feed, in the house it's mice in the EVERYTHING, in the garden it's gophers and in the harbor it's the flying rodents, the pigeons! The birds can destroy a boat in no time. No mercy! Rodents are the only beasts that I terminate not for food, but out of self...

RV LIFE Forum Hub, Wander The West 10 gallon propane?

The fact the FWC has two 10lb tanks has been great for us. Since I do most cooking outside (weather permitting) I pull one out for my BBQ, stove and fire pit. The one that stays on board just runs the heater and lasts a long time. You should have no problem fueling your grill with it.

RV LIFE Forum Hub, Wander The West Truck&Camper Cover

I have a loyal canvas guy that I have used for many years. He knows of the project and is on standby for me to pull the trigger. I just keep adding solar panels, surf racks, wind deflectors, bike racks and fuel cans. I have decided to camp in the new rig for a while and dial in what I need and...

I'm giving this a try now. https://www.amazon.com/dp/B005T4VD0S?psc=1&ref=ppx_yo2ov_dt_b_product_details Not ideal by any means but it does work. it fits the length perfectly but the shape in the front is designed for another type of vehicle. It is a little long on the drape but I like that...

RV LIFE Forum Hub, Wander The West Day on the Delta

"Main drawback being it may take away one of the more enjoyable aspects of boating--the launch ramp follies." Foy Agreed! Even I have forgotten the plug, parked the trailer and returned to find my boat slowly sinking! Never a dull moment at the launch ramp.

RV LIFE Forum Hub, Wander The West Day on the Delta

Will do Bill, Thanks for the tip. I think we will go back in a couple weeks. I love the ease factor of my FWC for strike missions like this! As much as I want to travel the country with it, I'm forced to keep my nose to the grindstone and work. Someday perhaps I will reach the point of...

RV LIFE Forum Hub, Wander The West Day on the Delta

We snuck off to the water this weekend for a quick overnight on the Delta. We normally avoid large campgrounds but we found one that was so clean, welcoming and loaded with perks, that we couldn't resist! Only 2 hours from home offered us a quiet place to camp with a valet tractor that picks you...

RV LIFE Forum Hub, Wander The West Help with new battery

The battery itself does not have a blue tooth connection. Any of the settings were programed through the smart shunt and the victron app. At the bottom of the display is an option to pre set the current state of charge. I followed the advice gathered online that most lithium batteries come from...

RV LIFE Forum Hub, Wander The West Help with new battery

Thanks Vic. Do you recommend that I up mine to 14.4 as well? I trust your input more than random YT videos. Then once that number is hit will my SOC show 100% on the BT readout? Mine is stuck on the preset 30%.
