    Stock Roof Rack? Useful?

Yes factory rack. I found it useful when I acquired my first Hawk second hand. Hauled lumber and canoes/kayaks etc. the rear section functions as a cargo basket too. When I placed my order for a new Hawk in 2015 I went with the factory rack again and it works fine for me. I wish the front...

stealth camping / sleeping for 2

I have the roll-over couch layout in a Hawk and have slept there many times solo and couple times double. Sometimes with the top latched down.

    DeeZee vs horse stall mat?

Excellent. If you need more height then add plywood stringers/strips to the camper bottom (there may be some there already). The stall mat is super heavy and so dense that is doubtful that you would get any compression from a 1600 lb camper. Even a 1600 lb horse landing on a single hoof...

What year was a outdoor shower to be a option on a Hawk ?

I’m very happy having the built in water heater and external shower. However if I was shopping for a used camper I would not hesitate to consider one lacking the factory install as there are very good portable units available.

Camper sits higher in the front than in the rear?

My first camper was a 2005 Hawk and it did not have jack brackets. It looks like yours were added by a previous owner. Your picture shows the exposed edge of some plywood. I would be inclined to seal it somehow although you don't want to create a situation where water get in when driving 65...

    Telemark Turns at Timberline

Thanks for sharing. Very pretty turns. My style is more upright and I stay away from the metal lift columns even if they have padding! I started skiing with nordic gear around 1990 and used Paul Parker's excellent book (..think it was "free heel skiing")as a guide. First setup was fischer...

The first upgrades on a 2 week old Hawk

Very good work-around. Will you be shopping for a higher flow pump in the future? Or perhaps 105 degrees is fine for most uses?

The first upgrades on a 2 week old Hawk

I'd probably consider this option if I were to order a new camper. However, 30 some pages of troubleshooting makes me wonder if there are lots of potential problems. I've not looked at the range of problems associated with water heater in my 2015 Hawk since it has not failed to work so far.

    Rollover couch organziation

It is a big space and since I am usually storing various smaller items, I built three wood boxes/carry crates which nestle in there nicely. I can use them in any combination; or not at all if I need to store larger items. On my 2005 Hawk I had the lid supports and they were fine. For this...

    Help me Understand Trasharoo bags

Good feedback. Storing the WAG bag outside of camper makes sense. I ditched the Thetford cassette for a Go Anywhere folding unit. It is in the camper but we have not used it yet. If we are in developed campground we use their facilities and if we are remote we have so far been able to go as...

    Bike rack with FWC Flatbed?

Yes, from my observations looks like some variation of a vertical rack may work. As you have deduced some customization may be needed although I have no direct experience.

Establishing holes for roof solar panels

I attached the rear edge of solar panel to factory roof rack. Screws into panel frame go only through one wall of square tubing with screw head accessible by larger hole in opposite tubing wall. Front panel mounts are screwed through roof skin into frame. You could demo part of middle...

    Help me Understand Trasharoo bags

What are the pros/cons. Not so much on this forum but other forums seem to have lot of the SUVs and Jeeps with trash bags hanging off the back. I try, try to generate as little trash as possible but usually bag it and store inside camper until I find a legit trash receptacle. When camping...

    Need to upgrade 4x4

I am also not very familiar with the Xterra. They do appear to have good approach and departure angles along with a short wheelbase. If the rig has a 2-speed transfer case I’d be inclined to go with slightly taller tires and just enough lift to allow clearance when loaded up. There must be...

    Bow Mount

While traveling with the top down they might fit in upper bunk sandwiched between mattress and top. While in camper move them to truck or if you have a roll-over couch (old school) store behind seat back in padded soft case. You probably already know about stores like 3Rivers Archery for...

    Preparing for Raven Shell delivery

For initial delivery you may not need to do anything. The headlights may be pointed a little higher towards oncoming traffic because of the load; even though it may be below max payload. Many folks install airbags which can help level it again and if you go offroad and anticipate much...

Any pics to share? I'm curious how the shell interior looks with minimal cabinet for cooktop and heater. Are you going to outfit it with additional cabinets, seats, etc?

    Wheel (rim) Size Question

My initial thoughts are that if it feels like top heavy and rolls then high profile tires (ie. smaller rims ) are going in the wrong direction. Your roll feeling might be suspension related and not tire/wheel combo.
