    Blown airbag

What he said... daverave- If you replace the spring pack with a set designed for the load then there are actually fewer variables and no need for air bags! If you want to keep the airbags then take a look at Daystar cradles which would eliminate your concern for over extension. I have fussed...

    New Pop-up Campers!

I like the idea of a fixed cabin like the Overland Explorer Base-Camp. An interesting option for a dedicated truck camper. I rarely take my slide-in camper off the truck and could just as easily have rented a pickup for the day.

    Ordered an F250 Tremor today!

I like the idea of a Supercab with most of the Tremor features. The OP's Tremor has a factory type of crawl or terrain control? Maybe the chip shortage is making production more slow for Tremors?

New Ford F-150 for my Hawk

Looks good. Is the truck a 4x4?

    New Tires Needed

The Toyo Open Country AT3 seems to have very good reviews. I'd consider this for my next set of tires. I am on my second set of Toyo Open Country M/T tires and am very happy with them. No unusual howling or drumming noises. I notice many sizes are offered in both load range C and load...

Cooking at high elevations - What do you use?

I've never had my camper or other propane appliances that high in elevation. Backpacking trips I use white gas stove which offers a good adjustable flame. The popular fuel canisters apparently are difficult to simmer but are outstanding for boiling water which is the main thing that backpacker...

    Mods to roll over couch

I did the same with my Lagun knock-off however my base is about 18” from the corner. Behind the rollover seat back I store couple folding camp chairs, outdoor shower enclosure, folding soft outdoor table, first aid bag/kit and extra jackets sleeping bags.

    Current Spike in Gas Prices

This thread started in 2012 but is still “current” by definition? Kinda like the word “modern”. I generally do not let gas prices hinder a road trip. I used to shop for good gas prices but not anymore. I mostly look for clean and convenient gas stations.

High Rock Canyon to beyond, Part III

Great report. I always have wanted to visit Surprise Valley and Warner Mountains. I once worked with a fellow who grew up in Cedarville and he told me a lot of stories.

Shipping a camper. Is that a thing?

No personal experience but I’ll bet uship.com can accommodate

    Blown airbag

Drop the remaining air bag to 5 psi and proceed. Should be fine. Headlights may be too high for night driving though.

    Tailgate on or off...can't decide

my opinion is alway off. If one thinks it is needed to support camper then a larger truck bed is indicated; otherwise it is in the way most of the time.

    OK I goofed :(

That may have been my post on the high vis tape. I still have the habit of walking around the camper twice to make sure all latches secure.

Can a Li battery be charged by a generator?

I had a generator on my 1966 Triumph TR4A. A very simple device so probably not a good choice for such a battery without more complicated electronics.

Crossing the US - Canadian Border on Aug 26

Great tips for our trip. The road into Denali toward Kantisna is closed about half way due to a mud slide. We were able to get 3 nights campground reservation at Teklanika; which is as far as you can drive your personal vehicle. Right now Teklanika is closed due to a pair of bears being...

Crossing the US - Canadian Border on Aug 26

Glad that is the current situation. A few months ago I wasn't confident on a border crossing so I've already booked a truck camper rental for a couple weeks. Arriving in Anchorage on Saturday. It will be our first time in Alaska so we look forward to checking out a few places including...

    Texas Posse scolded

I would have never seen that because I am not signed up with "mugshot" or any other social media stuff. If I am driving the speed limit I'll pull over when it is convenient for me..

    Mounting a '98 Granby on/in a '94 Bronco

Good project but to me it doesn’t look like a good fit. Did they make campers for the Bronco? I recall seeing them for the Blazer. That would look very clean and fit well as far as I can tell. With the axle change are you having to carry two different size spare wheels or perhaps you have...

    Rock trail work Desolation Wilderness

Good work. Looks nicer than some landscape improvements on multi-million dollar residential properties. Hopefully you don’t have to carry the stones too far.
