Thanks: Frank, Smoke, searching, and Wandering. Glad you found my report interesting and I appreciate your comments.

RV LIFE Forum Hub, Wander The West Cabresto Lake and Rio Chiquito, NM

The second half of my September trip to northern New Mexico has been posted on Bosque Bill's Backroads travel & camping blog. There are pretty photos of Cabresto Lake, high in the Taos Mountains, and along the picturesque Rio Chiquito. These areas are in Carson National Forest...

RV LIFE Forum Hub, Wander The West Rio Grande del Norte National Monument, NM

There is a new adventure posted on Bosque Bill's Backroads travel & camping blog. I changed my format a bit. I decided to break my September trip up into two separate posts instead on one post of multiple parts. Though I do realize the difference is mostly semantics. However, I wanted to have...

RV LIFE Forum Hub, Wander The West Sightings thread

It's not just you, Smoke. Even a relative late comer like me (2013) has noticed a difference in my reception by other FWC/ATC owners. Many today I guess have a "meh, it's just a camper" attitude, but I still wave and say "hi" given a chance. From time to time, I still find a fellow enthusiast...

RV LIFE Forum Hub, Wander The West Remote temperature sensing

Well, it was only $15 so if it doesn't work you're not out a lot of money (or you could return it if you are OK with that.)

RV LIFE Forum Hub, Wander The West Remote temperature sensing

I bought a cheap bluetooth temp sensor on Amazon that claims the signal can reach 250 feet. I doubt it is that good. The free app has high and low temp notifications. The font in the app is pretty darn small for my old eyes, FWIW. Haven't used it in the field yet, but seems to work around home...

RV LIFE Forum Hub, Wander The West Southeastern San Juan Mountains, CO & NM

Thanks. I am a little familiar with the Creede area and farther up the rio. I have no doubts this was a woodpecker as I watched her for a few minutes. The photo is not typical as they rarely stand on top of a branch, usually they're on the side of the trunk or even under the branches. I saw...

Hmm. I probably should have made it more clear it was only hot the first day and very warm the second. The rest of the time it was very nice, though I never needed a jacket.

After a long dry spell, literally and figuratively, here is a new adventure on Bosque Bill's Backroads travel & camping blog. https://bosquebill.blogspot.com/2023/09/se-san-juan-mountains-co-nm-part-1.html My camping trip up into the southern and eastern portion of the San Juans, west and...

RV LIFE Forum Hub, Wander The West Replaced Refrigerator

This model of compressor fridge is designed to be used on boats as well as RVs so is very tolerant. The manual just says "short term inclinations up to 30º are permissible." So I suspect your driveway is safe. I think your battery/solar system is fine. I ran my original for years with about...

RV LIFE Forum Hub, Wander The West Replaced Refrigerator

I replaced my original Dometic with this model 2? years ago. Been pretty happy with it though it seems to run more frequently than the original when it was in its prime (it finally lost its cool and they don't make these things to be repaired or serviced.) One thing I think I've figured out is...

RV LIFE Forum Hub, Wander The West New Rear Awning Design

Huh?! My 2013 Fleet doesn't have a Keder slot, but does have an aluminum trough that I always thought was just to catch water flowing off the roof. But it is centered on the end of the camper, not the door, so maybe it's intended for a similar function. I does have a slot above the v-shaped...

Looks great and very useful. I'd be interested in further construction and mounting details.

RV LIFE Forum Hub, Wander The West Creekside in Los Padres NF

Very cool. The one time I tried to get up into LPNF (about a million years ago) the road was closed. Though camping at Kirk Creek on the coast was a nice consolation prize.

RV LIFE Forum Hub, Wander The West Late Spring in SE Utah

Finally a new adventure posted on Bosque Bill's Backroads travel & camping blog. It took me a while to get going this spring, then took a month to go through the excessive number of photos I took and to write the narrative. I visit some new areas and some old favorites. There is even a cameo...

RV LIFE Forum Hub, Wander The West Back way into (out of) Capitol Reef

Sorry, I should have updated this weeks ago, but my mind was somewhere else. NPS reported South Draw Road as impassible, so I didn't even try it. You can get recorded & updated road conditions for the Capitol Reef park area by calling ‭(435) 425-3791 and following the prompts.

RV LIFE Forum Hub, Wander The West Bears Ears; last minute planning

Kevin, I've blogged about many areas in Bears Ears (and just got back from a week in SE Utah yesterday.) There's been some rain, but the mid to lower elevations should be fine. I'd not suggest Elk Ridge or up in the Abajo Mountains just yet—those areas are impassible when wet. I'm not a hiker...

Anyone taken the Pleasant Creek - South Draw Roads into or out of Capitol Reef NP? Not (necessarily) looking for current conditions just an overall impression. Thanks.

RV LIFE Forum Hub, Wander The West How wet is southern UT-spring 2023?

Thanks all for your replies. For some reason the forum didn't notify me that anyone had done so. Heard from a friend who just got back from San Juan County and he reports the roads are dry with very little running water in the deepest draws.

RV LIFE Forum Hub, Wander The West How wet is southern UT-spring 2023?

I'm thinking of SE UT early May and know some of the areas got much higher amounts of snow than usual this winter. I also know there are lots of roads with clay that are impassible when wet. Anyone have any current info? Thanks

RV LIFE Forum Hub, Wander The West White Rim Road March 28-31st - EPIC

Thanks for the report. I did the trail in my Fleet along with two other pop-up campers (4 humans total) early April 2017. No snow, but pretty chilly. Great trip. If anyone wants to read my blog posts, including lots of photos, start here: White Rim Trail - Day 1 - April 2017

RV LIFE Forum Hub, Wander The West Do you think an FWC or a GFC would make more sense for full-time living in this situation?

Now don't get me wrong & I don't want to ruin your dream, but I would not chose a pop-up camper for your situation (if I understand what you are saying about driving to the office each day). If you have to drive to your camping spot each evening, then you will have to pack up and lower the roof...

RV LIFE Forum Hub, Wander The West Swift No Drill Awning Mount

Thanks for the photos. That does help and it made me realize that the mounts for those awnings that extend forward have to be spaced out from the camper to allow the roof latch on the side top be opened.
