RV LIFE Forum Hub, Wander The West Castors for Camper Dolly?

I bought my solid rubber castors from harbor freight. 6", one pair swivel and one pair not. Work great on concrete, I don't know about gravel, I'd guess it depends upon how compact it is.

RV LIFE Forum Hub, Wander The West Alta Lakes near Telluride, Colorado

Cotton, Ski, Richard, Thanks for taking the time to comment. Ski, there seemed to be only one specie of damselfly, though many individuals, and one specie of dragonfly, only one or possibly two individuals in the area between my site and the lake. I wouldn't be surprised if there are more...

RV LIFE Forum Hub, Wander The West Alta Lakes near Telluride, Colorado

After a too busy summer in town I was finally able to head for the hills. I wanted to go back to Alta Lakes that I “discovered” last year. Success! I’m so enamored of the lake, I hope I did’t post too many lake photos. I was also able to snap my best photo of Ship Rock ever. Visit Bosque...

RV LIFE Forum Hub, Wander The West Removing Atwood LPCO detector

I suspect my Atwood LPCO in my 2013 Fleet has reached end of life. Found a bunch of threads on problems with the detector, but nothing on the actual process of removing the unit for replacement. I can't figure out how to remove it. The instructions say to insert a flat-blade screwdriver in the...

RV LIFE Forum Hub, Wander The West Screen door questions?

On the modern door the "bulb seal," as Old Crow names it, is on the flange of the door not the doorway. Note that not only is the screen door inside the perimeter seal, but so are the hinges (I wasn't clear on that above). That's how we get such a good seal to keep the dust and rain out.

RV LIFE Forum Hub, Wander The West Screen door questions?

The screen door has a stair-stepped bracket between the door and the hinge which lays flat agains the inner frame when the door closes. The main door seals against that. If you go to this page https://bosquebill.blogspot.com/2013/04/the-inside-story_14.html and scroll all the way to the last...

RV LIFE Forum Hub, Wander The West Screen door questions?

I don't have a detailed photo right now, but on the FWC the exterior door does all the sealing of the elements (dust, rain, etc.); it seals to the door frame; the screen door has a felt/brush gasket that will inhibit bugs from crawling between the screen door and the door jam, but does none of...

RV LIFE Forum Hub, Wander The West Roof latches

The Evapo-Rust GEL might be the best for the threads as it wouldn't require removing and soaking. Thanks. On second thought, removing and soaking seems like a better solution. I walked out and examined mine and there is actually little to no rust at present. Whew. I will keep an eye on them.

RV LIFE Forum Hub, Wander The West Roof latches

Yikes, that doesn't look good. I don't really have a great solution ready to hand (other than to maybe suggest some sort of anti-corrosion coating on the replacements—11 years isn't too bad.) And to subscribe to the topic as my threads are getting a bit of rust after 9 years. I guess I should...

RV LIFE Forum Hub, Wander The West Wind deflectors and Aero mods for fuel economy.

Hmmm. Seems counter-intuitive when aircraft engineers go to great lengths to minimize vortexes with wingtip airfoils, etc. to improve efficiency. Admittedly a wing is slightly different from the square boxes we push down the road. Please keep is posted on your results.

RV LIFE Forum Hub, Wander The West Exciting new areas in southern Utah

Sagebrush, Frank, nowhere, ski, Taku, AWG, Vic, dr tucson, and Occidental: Thanks for your comments. Southern Utah is indeed full of wonderful places, though it's not as undiscovered as much as it used to be (just like everywhere else, I guess.) JWL, yeah the first time in severe wind is scary...

RV LIFE Forum Hub, Wander The West Air Bag Replacement Valve Caution

When I got home from my last trip I noticed the camper leaned left at the back, i.e., the driver's side was way too low. I pumped it back up, but had a slow leak. Before taking it back to the folks who installed the air bag suspension 9 years ago, I removed the valve assembly and put it in a...

RV LIFE Forum Hub, Wander The West Exciting new areas in southern Utah

There is a new adventure posted on Bosque Bill's Backroads travel & camping blog. These two parts are a bit longer than usual as there was really only one place to divide up the narrative. The title shows Utah in April, but in reality the first night is in northern NM and the last night is on...

RV LIFE Forum Hub, Wander The West New portable Air Conditioning unit?

Interesting as I already have a vent input to the camper (from a portable swamp cooler experiment) so I'd want to set it outside, but is not designed to sit outside. It's $1200 preorder, until they get all their backers, then $1500. This is just for the unit, not the battery. It looks like it...

RV LIFE Forum Hub, Wander The West Removing Fantastic Fan Plastic Fan Blade

During the early years of my camper I had an issue with the Fantastic fan making inordinate noise. I talked to a lady in tech support and she had me remove the fan. If memory serves she had me pull straight down. She said it may be hard to remove, but don't worry the plastic won't break. If your...
