Great news! Glad you're both back home, especially with Julie recuperating from knee #2. Hot smokey summer weather has been a drag for all of us trying to get projects done.

I've been using 303 on our '08 Hawk including windows, and even screens. Seems to keep things flexible.

RV LIFE Forum Hub, Wander The West Earthquake 5.9 in Smith Valley 3:50 pm.

Thanks for the info, Ted. Since we can't get outside with all the smoke and forest closures, this might be the best time for Julie to get her knees done. Ice that knee!

Do not adjust your television. Wow. That is a strange series of events. Well water turbidity too. After this week's local fire, I'm keeping a sharp eye out for murder hornets.

The Bennett Fire was quickly contained at 50 acres and this morning has 70% containment. Air bombers were able to put down retardant at the head of the fire while choppers dumped water on spot fires. These folks are pros!

This is the second time this month when I have looked out my front window to see a threatening plume of smoke. This time is was less than a mile away. (Aug 4 River Fire) Once again, Callie heard me say, "Holy Sh*!! Let's get out of here! (Aug 25 Bennett Fire) We packed up and went three...

I've been thinking about you and the Lady, Ski. Today I see the Caldor fire has run across the dam and up to Sly Park Road, only 3.5 miles from your town. It's frustrating to watch this thing continue to grow. Keeping our fingers crossed for you and Julie.

Tahoe National Forest has implemented a temporary forest closure to begin this Sunday in response to the extreme wildfire conditions as well as the strained resources resulting from the Caldor and Dixie fires. Please respect the closure. The closures are effective midnight on Sunday through...

RV LIFE Forum Hub, Wander The West Eastern Sierra Nevada - August 2021

Great photos of the natives. And kudos to your restraint not to harass them when the conditions are tough. So many of our lakes and streams are extremely low. I'll chime in and cheer Julie on, as a fellow knee surgery survivor! She's looking good on the off trail routes you folks tend to...

We've gotten in the habit of putting Callie in her Ruff-wear harness. We call it her "tactical vest". She's like a patient pack horse when I put it on/off her for our daily commute to my office. Seriously, our Tundra setup has the dog on a shelf behind the passenger seat at the same height...

We just drove Gaston Rd. last month and it's nicely graded. I can't believe I haven't used that road before! We use the Bowman Rd (FS 18), or sometimes drive around from Truckee/Jackson Meadows. Perazzo is one of our favorites, partially put under protection during Governor Ahnold's reign...

Yep. I've been staring at those battens and backed out staples for years. I've tapped them back in, and they work their way loose. Some of my batten have broken on the fingerjoint behind the photo-finish too. I think about replacing them and the push boards (one is shown in your shot) with...

I always wanted to get up to Hidden Lake, on the flanks of English Mountain. Another spot you might enjoy is Bear Valley, just off the Meadow Lake Road, where the PCT crosses it. We finally made the trip from Bear Valley (near White Rock Lake), to Tom's Valley, and down, down, down to...
