    Rechargeable automotive Jump Starter question

Looks nice, Scott. I wonder about using the 10amp port to power a compressor. We have a ten year old MV50 with alligator clips. It could be a quicker way to air back up without cable-ling back to the truck battery.

Death Valley National Park - February 2022

Part II is another wonderful tour of familiar haunts. Our friend Mitch guided us to the hogan a few years ago. That bench with springs at the base of the limestone butte is a special place for sure. If we ever see you broke down, or locked out of your truck I'll always ask "Got everything...

Death Valley National Park - February 2022

Great tale from ancient trilobites to new friends. Familiar sites and sights are always a welcoming read, seen through your story and photos. We've been thinking of using our Inreach for backcountry messaging, assuming everyone is checking their devices. Did someone say Elvis is in the house...

    roof lifting helper shocks thingys

We have a 2008 FWC Hawk with one solar panel, and just replaced our ten year old 40# lifters. Either one of us can easily lift it. When we put the rocket box on top, it's just barely doable. If one person pushes up on the outside it helps, or with two inside we can do it. 60# sounds about...

Very cool trip! That snorkeling south of La Paz reminded me of time spent on the islands off shore of Loreto. Looking forward to the trip home.

I don't like when my car tries to be smarter than me. Subarus are great cars and are quite capable. Looks like a good bike hauler.

I can't say how much this brings back memories and dreams of future travels. I never made it over to Bahia de Los Angeles, and hope to rectify that once I cross into retirement.

Mis-Matching Lift struts Force on a FWC?

LOL. I was just saying to Susan, if I had a "ranching" strap! Instead, I used a pipe wrench (chopped down to 40") which compressed the strut and made the install easier. I have muscled them in place before and it wasn't fun.

    40# Suspa Lift Supports **SOLD**

Thanks RickD. The shipment was nicely packaged and everything looked new to me. I installed the 40# struts today on our 08 Hawk. The length was just right. I had to compress them about 1/2" to fit them. I ended up using a pipe clamp since the struts were pretty stiff. The top lifts...

    Christmas in Death Valley 2021

Thanks for laying it out, Foy. I think I can follow 80% of what you're saying   :P I'm fascinated by the intricacies involved it the transport of non-native materiel and uplift/graben-horst dynamics. Saline Valley is a major DV graben. Whew, all of this makes for a...

Mis-Matching Lift struts Force on a FWC?

Rando makes a good point about the lifters being horizontal at the beginning of the lift. If you have a partner, one person helps push from the exterior while the other person is inside pushing the lift boards into place. My wife and I had to do this on our last trip with a rocket box, plus...
