RV LIFE Forum Hub, Wander The West 1990 Toyota Pickup 3.0L V6 Suspension Upgrade

That's good to hear you have all the maintenance history and that the gaskets have been done. That should give you some peace of mind. If the engine ever does go, you can always do a 3RZ or 5VZ swap...

RV LIFE Forum Hub, Wander The West 1990 Toyota Pickup 3.0L V6 Suspension Upgrade

Not related, and sorry in advance but... I hate to do this to you, but if you don't already know of that engine's (3VZ-E) very well known reliability issues, you might want to look into this. It can get really expensive. I know personally two people who had head gasket failures but also a...

But the poor little tasty varmint bastards don't know they're doing anything wrong! :D Thanks for the great report. That looks like a great area, I hadn't heard of it before. Another one for my list!

RV LIFE Forum Hub, Wander The West Another Noob Question...Jacks

I use two, but I'm thinking of getting a third and using it at the back of the camper. I think the tripod would be really stable. If you get the 2 at the COG, it's not too bad. The only way it could really fall is if you hit it with the truck more than lightly, or if you forgot to unplug a...

I have a really thin, flexible putty knife with rounded corners so it doesn't scratch things. I would try something like that.

I'll second that! I was wondering how/where you found that info. I wish I was that good at that as you are.

RV LIFE Forum Hub, Wander The West LiFePO4Blue Brand Battery & DC-DC Chargers

Another benefit with the LiFePO4 is that you won't need nearly as many amp-hours as what has been working for you with lead acid, because you can draw them down to 20% SOC or less without harming them. You probably already know this.

I think I'm going to have to stop looking at your trip reports, because I'm getting more and more envious with each one, and I still have a long way to go before my camper and my truck are ready to use, and I may start to cry. :P

RV LIFE Forum Hub, Wander The West Eastern Sierra Nevada - June 2020

It was already time for another trip. It's only 40 minutes from my house. I went back out to look for another circle I saw on GE. In a few hours I found that one and 5 (!) others I just happened onto. All within about 1/2 mile of each other. Was it just a really popular area?

RV LIFE Forum Hub, Wander The West Advice Re: no screen door

I've read that you can get the screen door, but you have to replace the whole door assembly, including the door frame, because the non-screen-door frame is not deep enough for the screen. My 2012 non-screen door frame has no extra depth for the screen door. Now I wish I would have ordered the...

RV LIFE Forum Hub, Wander The West Another LiFePO4 Question or Two

rando, Thanks for the advice. I will freeze the battery when I get a chance and do my test, and report back on the results. There's one thing I don't get about the Victron and the low temp protection. I even bought the accessory temp/volt sensor as further protection. Even with the temp...

I love when the clouds do that deep pink/red thing. I get those same ones to the northwest of my house some evenings. If I take a photo of it, it looks about half as awesome in the photo as in person. Your dog looks hot! Was it good and warm up there?

I want to keep the interior of the camper as open as possible but also wanted some counter space for the rare times we will need to cook inside, so I made a removable counter that uses my folding table top repurposed as a countertop. It's this table...

RV LIFE Forum Hub, Wander The West Minimalist Build-Eagle Shell on 2006 Dodge 2500

I'm making a little bit of progress. I've run wiring for my switches and lights, and insulated my walls. I stuffed pink fiberglass in all the spots I could, and then covered the frame with 1/8" Reflectix. I scotch taped it in place to minimize the thickness since I knew I was going to have...

RV LIFE Forum Hub, Wander The West Another LiFePO4 Question or Two

Thanks for the replies and the links. I did see some of that online, and the Victron manual doesn't seem to forbid disconnecting the battery while charging. There were a few posts online that said it would harm the CC. I also figured that the CC should be able to survive the BMS disconnecting...

RV LIFE Forum Hub, Wander The West Another LiFePO4 Question or Two

Ok, but how about the other way around? The panels are in the sun and batteries are charging and I disconnect the batteries from the controller while it's all powered up? Some of what I found online says that's bad and will damage the controller.

RV LIFE Forum Hub, Wander The West Another LiFePO4 Question or Two

Hi. I have two Dakota Lithium 54AH batteries. I emailed the company to ask about the BMS, and they replied that the BMS has high and low voltage cutoff, and high but not low temp cutoff. It seems absurd to me to put in a temp sensor and not also use it to keep the battery from being destroyed...
