Flat Beds--COG Can Be A Problem!?

When i began doing the leg-work for our present setup, i had some initial concerns regarding cog. My friends have may flatbeds on their work trucks and i had been around them to see how loads were managed. Our camper was built with the vast majority of the load in front of the rear tires. The...

Valley of Fire - October 2019

Once again, your trip reports get me even more antsy to find another desert spot. Have briefly toured VOF this spring but know i need to get back there. Maybe this Jan/Feb when i head to that area for a race. Funny you mentioned aliens, had a strange what if thought while camping there this past...

Moving from #Vanlife to a Camper

Many factors to consider, lots of good advice. For us, it was how many people (2) 1 dog. How long we could be in camper without wanting to kill each other. Extra space has been a blessing in bad weather. If camper will be on most of the time, a flatbed is a good option. ATC will do about...

    ATC Panther purchase

Hi, Our build started out different from the start. 7ft wide by 9ft long flatbed. cabinets/counter height, depth etc I hate hunching over to wash dishes/cook. No dinnette fridge on a slide out under two massive drawers At the time the stove and sink were reversed from how I wanted them, Two...

Missing Link, Still driving me crazy, spent a ton of effort to see them and a few other animals and zilch. My trip was somewhat hampered by my intention to drive the routes we did. Usually I am a journey guy not a destination guy. Oh well, planning for next years trip is underway and will most...

Made it back, 9,070 miles in 32 (not nearly enough) days. Fantastic trip, the Dempster and Dalton were as awesome as I had imagined. Fires did dampen our days in the interior, but Valdez saved that part. One crazily destroyed tire, and a hitch extension snapping in half were the only issues...

Bolting A Slide in FWC Hawk to a Flatbed Questions...

FWIW, My ATC flatbed camper is held on by 5 bolts, two of them are accessed through the propane tank openings, one is in a small cabinet, two of them are in the open area in the rear of the camper. Takes me about 30 minutes to get them out, mainly due to the height of my bed. Not sure of the...

    Flat bed truck?

I have three super dutys, two with beds, one without. If i keep my dually it to will have a flatbed. As will all the trucks i buy going forward. Easier to load, work out of, off of. And i love the extra room my camper has. This being said, a flatbed with a regular truck camper has tons of room...

Camping at Glacier National Park in August

Don't overlook forest service campgrounds outside the park, also some nice dispersed camping as well. Bowman, Kintla are my faves, long drive yes but a better experience in my book. Many Glacier is fantastic. Going to the Sun road is awesome, I always drive west to east. Prefer the views that...

Why did you choose ATC over FWC

To add two cents, They build what you want. FWC are great, just more than some of us want. I wanted mine the way I wanted it, for better or worse, they gave me what I asked for. And to this day, are still great to work with. Always available for a question. w

    Propane in Camper

If you are speaking about a propane heater, the detectors do work. For me the main issue can be excess condensation. I have a regular furnace that is vented, but also have a wave six catalytic that I will use to augment heat in the winter.

Adding a propane hose & quick-connect inside a newer Hawk

I have a similar setup. Mine was installed during construction. I use a wave 6, in the winter it really helps to keep the furnace from cycling on/off as much. I have run it all night, but do ventilate a great deal and also use two additional co monitors. Works for me.
