RV LIFE Forum Hub, Wander The West Painting the exterior

My camper (ATC) has been wrapped since it was new. Just wasn't a fan of a big white box on a dark grey truck. Have had to fix the section over the cab to impacts from rocks bugs and branches. The drivers side was replaced this year as it had some wear issues. All in all i am satisfied with how...

RV LIFE Forum Hub, Wander The West Upcoming trip to ID, UT, NV and memory lane - suggestions and advice?

I just never drive around on those type of roads if it rains/snow. Just pull over, pop the top and wait. You can of course go in and out from different roads as well. X2 and the moki dugway camping. It can get crowded(and windy) but it is till a fun overnight. Mule canyon?

RV LIFE Forum Hub, Wander The West Upcoming trip to ID, UT, NV and memory lane - suggestions and advice?

The road(s) in and out can be fun, especially when wet. The ruin parks have numerous camps around them. The citadel in cedar mesa is a fun hike. Did a few others in that area as well.

RV LIFE Forum Hub, Wander The West Upcoming trip to ID, UT, NV and memory lane - suggestions and advice?

Have been to Beef Basin a few times, one of my favorite places. Great driving, very few people, more ruins than i will ever be able to aim a camera at. Truly a special place, Cedar Mesa is also amazing for the above reasons.

RV LIFE Forum Hub, Wander The West Honda 1000 Generator

The 1000s are great, have carried them into the backcountry doing SAR work in MT. And would most likely work for your needs. I was going to go that route, but went with a 2k, converted it to propane. And it will run a larger heater. Space wasn't an issue due to the truck being a crew cab. You...

One are i have visited a few times is the forest access across from the cunningham cabin area in the park. Has gotten busier the last few years, but there are some great spots back there. The gros ventre area by kelly has some nice areas as well.

RV LIFE Forum Hub, Wander The West Oregon Coast

I have a spot or two i have used in the past. An area mentioned above can be pretty nice, depending and your setup and comfort driving on sand. I go there several times a year, and only once was it crowded (4th of july). If you are willing to air down and drive a bit, you can find some peace and...

RV LIFE Forum Hub, Wander The West ATC status

I have a custom ATC flatbed model, one of my buddies has a fully loaded Granby, another has an ATC Bobcat shell. The FWC is fancier, at a much higher price for what some of us don't want or need. This being said, what they build may not look as modern but they build a product that works. I have...

RV LIFE Forum Hub, Wander The West Engine braking?

Always! Drive mountain roads daily, and always use tow/haul mode and downshift. 03 f250 take it out of od/ and downshift. 2016 with camper on 99% of the time, Tow/mode, engine brake same with the 2020, both newer trucks are diesels.

RV LIFE Forum Hub, Wander The West Kentucky - 2021

Having grown up in KY, it's nice to see others enjoy my "home". Lot's of fond memories at Natural Bridge and Red River Gorge. Where i learned climbing, backpacked all over the place. Next time, Distilleries are a must. Before she passed, i would take my Mom on a tour or two everytime i went back...

RV LIFE Forum Hub, Wander The West Ford F-350 suspension modification?

From personal experience, i would wait until you put the camper on and see how it looks and drives. I tried a few different approaches, and in the end i went with a fairly moderate suspension upgrade. Mostly, deaver, some Carli/BDS parts. I did a new leaf pack in the rear, and while the camper...

RV LIFE Forum Hub, Wander The West Grand Teton NP camping

I live north of the west entrance to YNP, have been through West Yellowstone,MT twice in the last week. The crowds and lines to get into the park are insane. Most of the dispersed places around here and the Tetons are no longer a secret, many were closed after the eclipse debacle. If...

RV LIFE Forum Hub, Wander The West High Desert suggestions for summer camping

I can't recommend Cedar Mesa, Bears Ears and Beef Basin enough. More native ruins and hikes than one lifetime can fully explore. Dispersed camping everywhere, very few people and great scenery. I try to spend two weeks a year there, wish it was 22. Lot's of not so great roads to make a person...

RV LIFE Forum Hub, Wander The West Responsible Firewood Gathering

I re-read my earlier post, i apologize for being blunt. Was not my intention to offend anyone. Fires have just hit to close to home. Didn't mention the "small" one we had here in the fall that just about took out my MT place. Can't do much about lightning, but far too many are human caused. And...

RV LIFE Forum Hub, Wander The West Responsible Firewood Gathering

Ok, Here it goes. Get out the torches. No fires in the west period. Every year we spend billions, billions. Too many people out there, not all are human based but a lot are. None, zip, nada. Propane if you must, but enough with the wood fires I know, this sucks but it has got to stop. I spend...
