    Spring is in the Air!

Ski, I was going to suggest you put the tractor on air freight in light of our recent accumulation, but never mind- the airport is closed due to snow, haha.

    Spring is in the Air!

Foy, that system headed your way dumped 16 inches of snow on us and it is still snowing! We are breaking records left and right. I hope you escape unscathed with records intact!

Additonal Sleeping Platform Mod in Panther?

We use a "y" connector on the propane tank to hook up our camp stove outside. Leave the hose connected and coil it up inside the propane box. We have an adapter to also use the small 1 lb bottles when we want to cook away from the camper.

Still have something you had as a kid?

Ha, I've got a soldering gun just like that- inherited from my Dad. Light still works! I remember doing projects with him using it. Pretty similar tape repair job too!

Can 2014 Tacoma (dclb) w/FWC also tow a trailer?

I found this handy AAA reference: http://drivinglaws.aaa.com/tag/trailer-brakes/

Can 2014 Tacoma (dclb) w/FWC also tow a trailer?

GCWR= total weight of everything- truck, payload (including passengers and gear), trailer (loaded) Your truck with camper and gear probably weighs over your GVWR by a few hundred pounds based on my experience. Your trailer plus load should probably be less than 4000 lbs for bit of safety...

The End of the Beginning, The Beginning of the New Chapter

Looks like a great rig! I've always like the service body/camper combo- makes a ton of sense. Congratulations and happy camping. Looking forward to more pics. :)

    Spring is in the Air!

Ski, thanks for the offer! What's the top speed on that thing? Once you get past the mountains, should be clear sailing. I'll look for you around July 4. :) Just finished a round with the community snow blower. More snow (maybe rain) forecast for the weekend. Here's hoping for rain, haha.

    Spring is in the Air!

Something's in the air today but sadly it's not spring. 8 inches of new snow today! Wind is blowing at about 20 mph, gusts to 40 mph. Record low temps forecast for tonight, 9°F. What is up with that? edit: update snow total- 12 inches on the deck and still snowing. April snow is not unheard of...

Small camper (fleet-swift) in a full size truck?

Our V6 Tacoma handles our camper just fine. It will downshift on steep hills but has plenty of power. If necessary I can pass slower vehicles going up a steep hill without a problem. The shifting can be annoying but you get used to it. You can manage it by manually downshifting and keeping it...

    Camping along the Loneliest Hwy?

We camped at the Bob Scott USFS campground east of Austin. Was in the winter and we had it to ourselves- might be busier in May. I remember it as a nice campground. We also stopped at Hickison Petroglyphs and did the short hike but didn't camp there...

A Problem With Wiring From Truck to Camper

It's always nice to find a simple solution. This raises a question for me though of what was going on with that fuse? Seems like fuses are either on or off. Why 7.5 volts? And why now and not before?

Winter Time - I Want One of These

Ski, great video! There was one such machine listed on Craigslist here a while back. I think it had dual Cummins diesel powerplants. Quite a selection here ;) :http://www.truckntrailer.com/inventory/?cat=equipment&subcat=snow-blower

    Spring is in the Air!

Ski, glad to hear your power is back. Hopefully the white stuff will help fill some reservoirs. It sounds like we are on for some more snow later this week. The transition to spring is taking a while this year.

Snow: how much is too much?

I like this idea too! I wonder if the tarp might catch on things on the roof like solar panels or racks but I think the idea is sound.
