RV LIFE Forum Hub, Wander The West Lithium battery connected to BlueSea ACR 7610 question

If you are using the trucks alternator to charge your battleborn, you are going to want to get a DC-to-DC charger. The LifePO4 batteries will eventually damage your trucks alternator.

RV LIFE Forum Hub, Wander The West Sure power 1314A gets hot

I guess it was another thread: The ML part of ML-ACR means magnetic latching, which means the controller switches the relay closed and it stays closed until the controller switches it open and it stays open. During those transitions the ML-ACR is drawing some current, about 40mA, but the rest...

Just build your own. I built one 120ah, bms, etc. for about $375. There's a thread in the forum somewhere. It doesn't have the "heating" part though :-(

You can use either the ML or the SL version. I have one I'm selling if you are interested. Some where in this thread I think I posted the differences.

RV LIFE Forum Hub, Wander The West How to: install used truck camper purchased from a private seller

I would not use that option given how far you are travelling. I would set your truck up with eye bolts, etc. Rent, use or borrow jacks and do the install right given how far you are going; you may hit rain and/or wind so why take the chance. The time difference on install might be an hour?

RV LIFE Forum Hub, Wander The West Battery Life Expectancy?

My last AGM lasted about 6 years. It wouldn't hold a charge for long. I just completed my LifePO4 battery build. About the same price. You can search this forum or google LifePO4 batteries. They are a much better alternative (IMHO) than AGMs.

RV LIFE Forum Hub, Wander The West Newbie with questions about purchasing a FWC.

I leave my FWC Eagle on fulltime. It's never been off my current truck (4 years now). If you want to buy used, I'd get a truck and have it ready to go; tie downs, etc. When you find the used one you want, you have to jump on it quickly. Be ready to travel. One thing, if you buy used and...

RV LIFE Forum Hub, Wander The West Finished LifePO4 build (observations, cost, BMS, DC to DC charger

I've been dreaming of a flatbed too. I think the electrical demands might require a larger cell pack but it'd be an incremental cost and you'd probably have solar on the roof. I have been using a portable panel to charge my AGM but we'll see how this does on this trip. Still trying to figure...

RV LIFE Forum Hub, Wander The West XP Camper Relaunched as Nimble Vehicles

That's such a difficult question because everyone has a different bias. One thing I've heard is that if you could get a cummins engine, with an Alison transmission on a Ford platform you'd have a great platform :-) I will say that I investigated which 3/4 ton truck could be "converted" to a...

Vic, Here's a screen shot. Alibaba.com 120ah. You'll see the cell price @ @29 each (x4 = $116) and then the total with shipping ($188) so it wasn't that cheap and as stated, took a month (by boat). I did negotiate a bit with the seller on the cell price and I suspect you could too (I might...

It certainly has been a learning experience. Still trying to figure out all the correct charging profiles., etc. It wasn't difficult to build once you figure out what everything does and how it all works together.

RV LIFE Forum Hub, Wander The West Finished LifePO4 build (observations, cost, BMS, DC to DC charger

Ok, I finished my LifePO4 battery build. Cost to build was about $435. I figured that it was just slightly more to build than buying another AGM and it'll last longer, work better. Main upcharge was the DC-to-DC charger. Here's what I used: 4 LifePO4 cells; 12v 120ah LifePO4 cells (ordered...

RV LIFE Forum Hub, Wander The West Backing plates pulling through truck bed

I made some larger 4"x4" backing plates for the top and bottom of all mounting locations on my bed and camper. Didn't take terribly wrong to make them. Install was easy except for the drivers side (one was in the cabinet, one under some carpet). This was on an older Eagle. I also upgraded my...

RV LIFE Forum Hub, Wander The West Should FWC campers be marketed towards Tacomas?

I think too that FWC/ATC don't specifically market them to trucks maybe out of concern for liability issues and GVWR as others pointed out. I really doubt you can put any product on a 1/2 ton and be under GVWR. Yes, the upgraded tires, etc. help but weight wise, you'll still be over. If you...

RV LIFE Forum Hub, Wander The West How to add a 12 volt socket, need help

Here's the easiest way if these wires are thick enough to handle the current draw on your refrig. https://www.amazon.com/Ginsco-Cigarette-Lighter-Receptacle-Motorcycle/dp/B074YVQPKH You just hook the wires to the terminals on your battery. Has the fuse installed inline already.

RV LIFE Forum Hub, Wander The West How to add a 12 volt socket, need help

I would connect directly to the battery. Use pretty thick wires (I don't know the refrig you are going to use and what type of amps it draws; the more amps, the thicker the wire) but a 12v socket can only handle so much current so it won't have to be super thick. As the other person mentioned...
