Air Force Training Exercise - Rainbow Canyon, DVNP

I can remember them doing touch and goes both at McConnell AFB and Wichita Mid -Continent Airport, the airport finally made them stop because they were tearing up the runways. It was cool to see a few Cessnas and Lears waiting for takeoff when a 52 came roaring in.

    Current fridge options

My Dometic 65 used to vay a lot more before I added a second cooling fan to the coils, now it stays +- 2-3 degrees F.

    Current fridge options

With the stock Surepower battery separator and stock 10ga wiring in my 2014 Eagle the alternator in my Tacoma doesn't keep up with my 2 way fridge in hot weather. I don't know if 3 ways on 12v draw more than 2 ways or not. I just changed out my separator to a Bluesea and will find out if that...

    The Landscape Photography Thread

I only used it when I had a scene with a lot of range or for times, like I said, where I wanted to simulate motion blur. I did also use it at times for the deghosting feature many HDR programs have where I had to shoot long exposures and didn't want motion blur.

    The Landscape Photography Thread

This is another older shot (2010) that was one of a series of bracketed images I processed int an HDR. I decided to revisit a single exposure and see what results I could get with the latest Lightroom and Viveza. I like it better than the HDR. i used to use HDR to make up for lack of range in my...

Oct 21 - 24 Group Utah Campering Gathering

Don't blame you for not wanting to break camp and drive. When I'm in Valley of the Gods I like to just walk away from the road a ways and just sit and listen to the quiet. Lots to see even when sitting still.

Oct 21 - 24 Group Utah Campering Gathering

Assuming you don't mind driving, Hovenweep isn't too far, Sand Island and the petroglyph panel there is closer, the drive up Montezuma Canyon to Monticello is fun and there are some petrogly[hs and a reconstructed kiva on the way.

Max Wind With Hawk Top Up?

I've had 45mph winds from all directions on my Eagle without issue. Seems I read somewhere about someone (not me) driving down the road at 60mph with their top up accidentally. Having been in 65mph winds in a RTT I was somewhat prepared for winds in my FWC, but it was still a little disconcerting.

    Updated Road Conditions In GSENM?

When I ask rangers in person they usually direct me to someone who has actually been to the area in question if they have not. Most times the info I get in person is more detailed than what is posted on the white boards but there's no guarantee for sure. Charlie Sent from my iPhone using...

    Updated Road Conditions In GSENM?

Having been an NPS volunteer and having dealt with enough stuck knuckleheads I can understand their overly cautious approach. Also, after a rain even if you are able to travel some of the roads in high clearance 4WD vehicles you will often tear up the roads doing so and make it impossible for...

Any Experience with the Tokina 11-16mm f2.8 Wide Angle Lenses?

One of the best things about RAW is that when you edit the file the original isn't changed but deltas are created, this allows you to 'undo' edits you don't like at a later date. I occasionally go back to shots I took in RAW 10 years ago and re edit them with current versions of processing...

How Cold Is Too Cold for a Hawk Water System?

Has anyone tried opening the low point water valve under the sink and the hot and cold faucets to drain water from the lines but still leave water in the tank in cold weather before driving with the interior heat off? The sloshing in the water tank should help keep it from freezing while en...

I travel alone a lot so the recovery gear weight is worth it to me if only for peace of mind. I also carry a PLB in case things go really wrong. ;)
