    Finally some progress

Sounds cool. Easiest way to add photos to a post is to host them online somewhere (like Google Photos) and then just add the link to the photo using the little 'picture' icon just above the area where the text is typed.

    OUCH!

That's true in GA where I live (and other states I'm sure) but I think in CA it's who owns the property where the tree trunk is who is responsible.

Good Article on the Necessity of a Fridge

I camped for many years with coolers and ice and when I got my first fridge (Engle top loader) it was the best camping investment I had ever made. Now I have an FWC with fridge/freezer and no way I would ever go back, although I do carry a small cooler and blue ice for soft drinks, etc. I swap...

    The Wildlife Photography Thread

Took a trip to FL a couple of weeks ago and camped at Salt Springs. While we were there we visited the rookery at the St. Augustine Alligator Farm. This was shot with a Panasonic Lumix DC-GH5 and 100-400mm zoom. It's a nice light combo for wildlife and much easier to handle in places like the...

    Geezer pass basics

The only time you need to 'renew' the pass is if it is lost or stolen.

How in the world to camp in the Midwest and avoid ticks?

Actually the bugs home in on the co2 you exhale, so just don't breathe. [emoji6]

How in the world to camp in the Midwest and avoid ticks?

Frontline kills fleas after they bite and doesn't kill the eggs. We've had a few bad flea seasons in the south and the constant flea hatches on the dog were allowing them to spread everywhere. Nexgard kills the eggs too. I think you may have to get it from your vet.

How in the world to camp in the Midwest and avoid ticks?

I don't know. We plan on just using ours under the awning when we sit outdoors and there likely won't be cameras out there with us. I have seen some expressing concern about optics but not any actually identifying damage caused by it.

How in the world to camp in the Midwest and avoid ticks?

I got one of these to try on mosquitoes on our next trip: https://www.amazon.com/Thermacell-MR-BP-Thermacell-MR-BP-Backpacker-Mosquito-Repeller/dp/B06X6B8W5P/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&qid=1497187206&sr=8-1-spons&keywords=backpacker+mosquito+repeller&psc=1 We used to use Frontline on our border collie...

How in the world to camp in the Midwest and avoid ticks?

We've had good luck with Nexgard for our dogs. I also treat my hats with permethrin for mosquitoes. Cutter Natural works for me with most bugs too. I used to use Cutter Advanced but can't find it anymore, I suspect it must have had some pretty toxic stuff in it. I never use DEET since it...

    Turnbuckle Question

I think you want the weak link to be the turnbuckle otherwise any failures will be on the camper or on the truck. This is not to say you want weak turnbuckles only that the attachment points should be stronger than the turnbuckles.

    When do you recharge?

Just recharge with shore power or solar until the voltage is high enough for the separator to work. That's why I swapped my separator for a Bluesea ACR, so I have some manual control over things plus it also allows the solar to charge the truck battery if the camper battery is fully charged.

    Grand Teton Nat'l Park Recommendations?

Gros Ventre is a decent campground and close to Jackson and Mormon Row. The Jenny Lake loop is a nice hike.

    Overweight: Your perspective

Brakes are probably my biggest concern and my overloaded Taco has the towing package and I can't tell that the stopping distance has been extended at all.

    Dometic 65L power/current draw

I just added a 12v computer fan although I did use a sugar cube relay to trigger it since the wire that triggers the main fan is so thin. Now when the main fan comes on so does my extra one.

    Overweight: Your perspective

My Tacoma/Eagle is exactly the combo I wanted. Plenty comfortable on long trips, able to squeeze through places a full size couldn't, etc. If I were to go to a full size I'd probably go flatbed but that would rule out some of the places I go and my neighborhood wouldn't allow me to park it in my...
