RV LIFE Forum Hub, Wander The West Aluminess rear w/ FWC Hawk on Ram 2500 clearance questions

When I got my Aluminess bumper I had it shipped to my local 4Wheel Parts, I saved enough on shipping that way that I just had them install it and it was pretty much a wash.

Another from our Florida trip. This with my little micro 4/3 Lumix GH3. I'm seriously thinking about the GH5 when it comes out on March, maybe it won't replace my big Nikons but it sure is easier to use as a walk around camera.

RV LIFE Forum Hub, Wander The West Aluminess rear w/ FWC Hawk on Ram 2500 clearance questions

I think CBI Offroad makes bumpers, I have their sliders and they are a good product. I like my Aluminess bumper and would choose it over a steel one for the weight alone. We got rear ended a few months ago and the car who hit us was practically totalled and we had a smudge on our bumper - they...

You may want to check with Aluminess as well, I'm sure they would know better than me how to do it. It looks to me like taking the swing arms off wouldn't be that hard and maybe if you had some sort of lift assist you could get them on and off without removing the box.

RV LIFE Forum Hub, Wander The West Aluminess rear w/ FWC Hawk on Ram 2500 clearance questions

I have an Aluminess rear bumper on a Tacoma/Eagle combination and don't see any way I could get the camper off without removing the swing arms. Luckily I leave the camper on full time but I think I'd have to remove the spare and the Deluxe box in order to remove the swing arms so maybe not an...

RV LIFE Forum Hub, Wander The West Non programable digital heater thermostat

I have the Honeywell also, works great. I think FWC switched to these from the White Rodgers - the Honeywell thermisters seem to be more sensitive and keep a more constant temperature.

I don't hear my Dometic at all in my Eagle and I'm a light sleeper. The new ones are Isotherm I think so not sure how the noise levels compare. Not sure I've ever camped anywhere that was totally quiet, though.

I upgraded the vent over the bed on my Eagle (already had a fan over the stove) and have never regretted doing it.

RV LIFE Forum Hub, Wander The West Efficiency of flat fixed solar vs adjustable portable?

I'm on the move a lot during the day so I went with 3 100w panels on the roof. I do have a 60w foldable that I put out sometimes when I need more solar and am in one place for a while, but portables would be too much trouble for me. Plus, I don't have to worry about where to store the roof...

RV LIFE Forum Hub, Wander The West CB's and truck campers?

I remember a trip back from Florida when I had my Defender and Fargo trailer listening to a trucker lecture his younger brethren on road courtesy like it was back in the 'old days'. His primary concern was a survey he had read that ranked truck drivers behind lawyers in popularity. ;)

RV LIFE Forum Hub, Wander The West E rated tires and air pressure?

I'm running 45 in the front and 55 in the rear on my Tacoma/Eagle with BFG KO2's. I do have an Aluminess rear bumper with swingouts for the spare and a deluxe box which is why I run higher in back. Seems to ride and wear well with these pressures.

The Palouse in Washington should be really pretty if they have some snow on the ground. If you are going to travel the coast I like it better going north to south since all the pullouts are on the right. CA and OR have some really nice state parks as well.

RV LIFE Forum Hub, Wander The West Cell Booster Antenna mounting

I have a Wilson cell phone booster and have for a couple of years. As long as you have at least some signal it does a decent job boosting it as far as I can tell, but it won't find a signal if your phone can't without it.

Here's a brief blog post I did about my 2016: https://stalkinglight.com/wordpress/2016-the-year-in-review/ Hip and vision issues have kept me off my F800GS for a while but I'm hoping I can get them resolved and get back in the saddle.
