RV LIFE Forum Hub, Wander The West spare tire plan

Mike & Gene, I have Toyo 295/70R17 MT's which are even bigger than the 285's and they fit the spare carrier fine on my 2007 Ram. Thanks Bob, What I'd really like is a slightly taller, no wider tire. Too bad the 285/75/17 doesn't actually exist in E rated.

RV LIFE Forum Hub, Wander The West spare tire plan

If the spare is the same ire size and not abused, I do not see an issue with it unless it is just too old. It is out of the way of most UV, should be fine. As a result I do not rotate mine. Now when I get new tires I plan to upsize from 265/70R17 to 285/75/R17 or a bit larger, that will cause...

RV LIFE Forum Hub, Wander The West Death valley information

It rains often in DV. But usually in only specific areas. Best time to go to DV is when it is stormy weather. You get the most amazing skies. Even if a few roads are closed or washed out, DV is 4 million acres. You'll find something to do. Me, when I see rain in DV, I pack up and get there...

RV LIFE Forum Hub, Wander The West looking for a new truck

Jim, I have the 2006, 5.9L Cummins. I change the oil every 5,000 miles. The same for the gas F250 I had. Cummins does swear that changing oil is every 15,000 and that the motor will go 300,000 miles as such. But I am old school. I stick with every 5,000. I think Jay does every 15,000. So, as...

RV LIFE Forum Hub, Wander The West looking for a new truck

My experiences with diesel has been much better than gas. My 2003 gas F250 got only 12 mpg with a light weight, cab high shell. Thankfully I did not have a camper on that Ford! This was Hwy, around 65 mph. My 2006 Dodge Cummins with the ATC Ocelot mounted gets 16 mpg at 70 to 80 mph. I usually...

RV LIFE Forum Hub, Wander The West Alabama Hills, Prez Weekend

Yes, it is Lone Pine Peak in the arch picture. Everyone else takes Whitney in the arch. I liked the way Lone Pine Pek looked better. Plus I didn't want to sit in the snow to get the right angel for Whitney. Sorry, the pictures are a bit grainy. They and the video were all taken with an iPhone...

RV LIFE Forum Hub, Wander The West the inland passage of Alaska

All the Inside Passage towns have something special to offer. I'd like to recommend for your Northernly drive that you not miss the Dempster Highway all the way to Inuvik, Dawson City, and Eagle. If you haven't decided already, I'd recommend the Cassair Hwy over the Alaskan Hwy.

Anne and I decided to skip the crowds of Prsident's Weekend at Saline and headed for the Alabama Hills. Besides very few day users, we were the only ones camped over night. Night were in low 20's. Our Wave3 kept us nice and warm. The views were fantastic! Video here:

Yes, Anne and I went to the Alabama Hills. We had been to Saline a few weeks earlier so we decided to go where we'd have few others around us. We were pretty much alone. I'll post a thread on Trip Reports. For those in Saline, the Inyos were packed with snow on the west side this morning...

RV LIFE Forum Hub, Wander The West Death valley information

My boy is 25 and unemployed. So I figured we might as well have some fun. I take it we would come in from Baker on 127? It took me a bit to get my bearings. Since we ski a lot and go up 395, we have seen umpteen signs saying this way to Death Valley. I never actually mapped it out. Are most of...

RV LIFE Forum Hub, Wander The West breaking out_ buying new FWC Eagle

Judy, I'd suggest you still consider a dinette version. You do not lose any storage. You can place a blue Rubbermade box in the space. I would so rather be looking out the window at the view with the dinette, than having my back to the view and be staring at the sink and stove with the couch...
