RV LIFE Forum Hub, Wander The West Stupid question: Airing down tires

Thom, yes, I'm aware of the economic costs associated with centralized power production and distribution, but the pollution produced is at this time still lower according to my sources. The move to more localized production to cut transmission losses and infrastructure costs (as well as to...

RV LIFE Forum Hub, Wander The West Stupid question: Airing down tires

Hadley, at high daytime AC rates it works to less than $3 per 100 miles. At night rates are 1/2 that and if you're doing your own solar pretty much free. If you test drive one of these, as I have, it will blow your mind. Electricity is the future, there is no doubt.

1986. Along the Gonzaga road, south of Puertecitos. Second and third images are Gonzaga Bay when the beach was empty; before the Pemex, palapas and buildings arrived.

This picture is the road passing by Bahia De Concepcion in the 1960's(taken by Erle Stanley Gardner). Can you imagine what a place Concepcion would have been back then without the pavement, development and traffic! You hear me often lament the pavement along the Gonzaga route, that's because up...

RV LIFE Forum Hub, Wander The West Stupid question: Airing down tires

I use the Vi-Air 400 which was around $300 when I bought it many years ago. Prices are lower now, less than $200: http://expeditionoffroad.com/4x4_parts/air_systems/compressors/viair_400p_portable_compressor The MV50 might be just fine at $60. I'm just usually leery about going to too cheap on...

RV LIFE Forum Hub, Wander The West Stupid question: Airing down tires

Long washboard roads I always air down. It makes things more comfortable, decreases impact to the suspension, and reduces the chances of a sharp rock through the tread. Think of a balloon; if you blow it up to its near limits, a pencil will pop it immediately, if you blow a balloon up 3/4 of the...

Very timely subject for me as my GF and I are planning a trip down to Baja via Mexicali and Ganzaga, we have about 20 days or so to spend in Baja. I dont have a real itinerary other then making our way down Loreto at some point. This will be the first real trip for my new setup and we'll have a...

RV LIFE Forum Hub, Wander The West 2012 Bobcat All Terrain Camper SOLD

Jay that camper looks quite nice. For someone who wants air conditioning, the guy did a pretty nice job with the vent. For someone not interested in have a/c, it would be a piece of cake to remove and cover the inner part of the vent and fix the outer part of the vent closed.

I feel completely safe in Baja whether in one vehicle or ten. I have 3 lady friends who travel Baja alone, regularly. I like to take the Gonzaga route because it is faster, more scenic, safer (hugely less traffic), I can bypass all the "worst of Baja", and I am at Gonzaga Bay the 1st night which...

MarkBC and generubin: you are my kind of people, probably most folks on here would agree with you. We avoid LV at all costs when we are in the area. We have had to skirt N LV, that vast wasteland of cookie cutter/strip mall/desert architecture sameness nonsense. We are heading down to Death...

Mark, If you join us, I'm sure you'll find yourself completely comfortable south of the border. I've been traveling Baja since 1985 and there are others with past Baja experience on the trip. I have female friends who travel Baja regularly. The only danger I can think of is driving the narrow...

Mark, I agree about avoiding Vegas and I will drive miles out of my way to avoid it. If you're going that far south and you enjoy the Sonoran Desert, consider visiting El Pinacate/El Gran Desierto just over the border: "The Pinacate Reserve, which includes Mexico's largest desert and dunes...

Ted, yep, you got the Alaska bug, you're done for now! If you ever get the time, make the drive up there. Inland BC, Yukon and, my favorite, NW Territories are wonderful! Not so far north but a wonderful trip with grizzlies, wolves and fall colors is the Bella Coola valley of BC. You can take...
