RV LIFE Forum Hub, Wander The West RIP Ross Ellis

Ross Ellis, who I first met about 25 years ago in Saline Valley was, well, a very nice fellow. For those of you who do not know him, Ross was married to Candy for about 30 or 35 years. They met as he was a college professor, she a student. My early memories were of barely waking up in the...

Why don;t you just throw the second spare into the camper or your extra cab area? It is only for this one trip.

RV LIFE Forum Hub, Wander The West Spare Tire Mount Directly on FWC

Stan, Sorry, no offense meant. What I was referring to is the camper with the swing out mounted to the corner of the camper. I could imagine a good washboard road ripping the entire corner off of the camper. Your pictures are appreciated but they remind me how complicated things can get to carry...

RV LIFE Forum Hub, Wander The West Spare Tire Mount Directly on FWC

Hmm...I just had a thought about a second spare solution. After looking at all those catastrophies waiting to happen from Stan's pictures. How about this? It is essential to have an equivalent diameter for your spare but width doesn't matter. What if you had two relatively narrow spares and then...

RV LIFE Forum Hub, Wander The West Wanted - pop up for Tacoma

Good choice. I have an Ocelot shell. I added just a Wave3 heater and a utility shelf left and right, about 16 inches deep just below the cab window. I would urge you to consider the large drivers side window. It makes the outdoor views so much easier to enjoy and is the one biggest advantage...

RV LIFE Forum Hub, Wander The West Spare Tire Mount Directly on FWC

Yes, I have driven the Dempster 6 times. I did get one flat. It was on a seriously overloaded rental camper (1/2 ton Toyota with smallish cabover camper) with under rated 1/2 bald tires. All the other times (rental sedan, 3/4 ton truck campers, Jay's old Nissan) I had no problems. The Dempster...

RV LIFE Forum Hub, Wander The West Solar-Powered Motion-Sensing Security Light

Think I'll continue to make my camps bear safe before I turn in and sleep through the night. For me, if I wake up in the middle of the night for every raccoon and fox, I might never fall back to sleep.

RV LIFE Forum Hub, Wander The West 3 Way vs Compressor Fridge

I've notice on Jay Aronow Camper Sales website (www.jayaronowcampersales.com) that most all of the campers he sells, the buyers have chosen to go with the Engle 12v fridge. I have had both. The 12v fridge is problem free. Mount a solar panel and let it run 365 days a year!

RV LIFE Forum Hub, Wander The West Which Wave to go

I use a Wave 3 in an Ocelot shell. An Ocelot is bigger than what your Bobcat. I have camped in temps down to 20 degrees and I have been very comfortable. At the lowest temps, I still wear a sweater inside. Say it is 20 outside, it may be 60 inside when set on high. As for mounting, I screwed...

Frank, INCREDIBLE pictures! I have been in Canada but never alaska for the fall colors. I agree with Robbie on the South Canol Road. I do hope you take Cassair, rather than the Alaska Hwy. Again, time permitting, look into driving from Watson Lake to Bella Coola, and then the ferry to Vancouver.

Nice to see that you had fall colors along the Dempster. Did you make it all the way up to Inuvik? Any animal sightings along the Dempster.

RV LIFE Forum Hub, Wander The West Pinnacles National Monument

I've only entered from the east end. For us it was a magical visit as the rain was pouring down. We hikes through the caves/tunnels. Every so often there would be an open area where the sunshine and rain would cascade into the tunnel. I believe there is no Park Service campground on the east...

RV LIFE Forum Hub, Wander The West 2005 Tacoma payload

Yes, of course I would expect people to attempt to drive safely, but there is a reason accidents are called "accidents". You can not always predict conditions. One other reason for staying within payload is that should you have an accident and people are hurt and a lawsuit goes into motion...

RV LIFE Forum Hub, Wander The West 2005 Tacoma payload

I prefer to stay well under payload. And I certainly hope that if there is ever any emergency braking happening in front of me, that I don't have any of you over-payload, under-braked trucks behind me. Seriously though, over payload is adding risk to you, your family and others.

RV LIFE Forum Hub, Wander The West Burning Man

I've never been to Burning Man. Way too many people for me. Plus, I don't get how they have the right to charge so frickin' much money to visit my own "public lands". A few years ago, I was selling something from Burning Man on ebay for a friend, I don't even remember what it was. But I do...

The thing you'll find is that a new order for an ATC or FWC will have a long wait for your camper to be ready. I am pretty sure Jay Aronow Camper Sales www.jayaronowcampersales.com has some ATC Bobcats being built right now and will be ready very soon. They can be picked up in California or Arizina.

RV LIFE Forum Hub, Wander The West To learn a little about Latin America

Good idea :D , I did that for a motorcycle in Australia, like to see Chile! DD could set up such a category. Another possibility within this category would be folks who might want to drive, say, to Anchorage, Whitehorse or even South America, fly home and have someone else drive the trip back...

RV LIFE Forum Hub, Wander The West To learn a little about Latin America

Fantastic photographs! You are an excellent photographer, especially the first page. I would think there could be a foreign camper trade exchange website, like people who trade houses for vacations. hey Jay, that would be a good business for you to do while you are busy selling ATC's.

Mitch, welcome to WTW. You could always pick up a new ATC camper from Jay Aronow Camper Sales in Tucson, AZ. I hope you take plenty of time for your trip.
