RV LIFE Forum Hub, Wander The West Seeking Input for a Trip to Arches & Canyonlands end of August

I'd recommend highly, the one day float trip down the San Juan River from Bluff, Utah. Wild Rivers Expeditions is the company to go with.http://www.riversandruins.com/river-trips/upper-canyon-one-day

Canadians and Alaskans use mostly campers made in Canada. You'll rarely see an ATC, Fourwheel or any popup. Conditions are just too severe for USA made campers. Though this guy uses one, and his video is worth buying! http://www.aurorahunter.com/

I don't recall if I had reception in Gerlach itself, but just south of Gerlach I was able to use the phone, check emails etc. It was near whatever the industrial/mine area was maybe 3 or 4 miles south. I was traveling north so once I checked my emails, I didn't bother to check in Gerlach only...

I had great ATT cell phone coverage, even near Virgin Springs in Sheldon NWR and surprisingly most of Hart Mountain. Just up the hill a small walk from the Hot Springs camp at Hart Mountain had excellent ATT reception.

Jay, It looks really great. One thing I would do is remove the headbanger cabinet on the passenger side over the window. You have plenty of cabinet space already. That window sill makes a decent sitting bench once you remove the cabinet. I removed mine, it makes all the difference. It is nice...

Try to squeeze in Chicken, Eagle, Dawson City and the Dempster all the way to Inuvik. I have made many trips to Alaska and these areas are always my favorites. Oh yes, don't forget a few nights at Teklanika Camp 30 miles inside of Denali NP. Great blog!

In Oregon it is legal to pump your own diesel. I guess they realized that we diesel owners are obviously smarter than those driving around with gas.

Good timing, Gene. We were there last September, post Labor Day and it was less people and better weather. You might check out this spot for both beach and river access: Navarro Beach Campground This beautiful little campground is located at the mouth of the Navarro River on the Pacific...

RV LIFE Forum Hub, Wander The West Mammouth north camp spot?

I would recommend any of the Forest Service campgrounds along the Virginia Lakes Road. Cool mountain/forested weather just south of Bridgeport.

Wow! Rare truck, 2wd, 4 cylinder, long bed. There is already a cooler inside your radiator. You can add an additional cooler in series for a few bucks and no mre than 30 minutes work. If you have not installed an adapter bracket on your rear axle for the brake proportioning valve, you better...

No, that is my son, Michael. I was using a lot of B&W film back then, makes it look like an old picture.

Along the rough south boundry road we saw many pronghorns. Some at full speed run would follow along beside us.

I have. And aside from the $50,000 pickup truck, it makes a lot of sense. It was way back in 2006, but my Dodge 2500, manual trans, 4x4, Cummins Diesel was only $32,000 out the door (Jay got his with automatic at a little less!). I got all the good stuff meaning crank windows, rubber floor you...

When I read a thread like this one, I am soooooooooo glad I have a 3/4 ton diesel. My suspension is completely stock, my truck doesn't even feel the camper plus I get 19 to 21 mpg. Top that off with I get near 700 miles on a tank and I have tons of space. At some point you guys should do the...
