    Health scare and trip planning

When Mr. Ski revived this thread earlier today it reminded my that I never posted an end to the saga of our friends who were stranded in Morocco for three months (two months more than they had originally planned on) due to the pandemic. They got home safely about three weeks ago. They were...

Looking for advice - Getting old, no more tents!

Happy - Congrats on your new camper. We have a 2017 F-150 Supercab with the 5.0 V8 and the 2,200 lbs. payload pkg. If I keep my foot out of it, I average 16 MPG on trips (manually calculated). It is the first Ford I have ever owned and I am very pleased with it. I did add E rated tires, air...

A few pre-purchase, Bobcat buyer questions...

We had the small rear window, not so much for light but it does enable you to see what's going on behind your camper (traffic-wise) a bit better than just the side mirrors and the rear door window.

    Memorial Day

Bob, I too would like to thank you for posting this touching piece and reminding us all of the significance that Memorial Day holds.

    Health scare and trip planning

I stumbled upon this site in February of 2009 while researching campers and it is one of very few sites that I regularly look at. When I do go elsewhere, I am often appalled at the general lack of civility that many sites exhibit. Rarely are there any nasty or demeaning comments here and if...

    Health scare and trip planning

Frank, they can walk into town which is about 10 minutes away, but can't drive anywhere. In town they have access to a grocery store, pharmacy, clinic, and (believe it or not) a liquor store.

    Health scare and trip planning

For those of you that are following my posts on this thread regarding friends that are "locked down" in Morocco in a rented camper van due to the virus, here is an update. Earlier this week they learned that they will not be able to travel anywhere until at least May 22. If that is the case...

Thanks, Frank. I think your idea of going to Portugal/Spain next April makes the most sense. Good luck with that. All is well here and we are staying home. I have gone to town for supplies on several occasions but this is my wife's 24th day of having no human contact other than me, and those...

    Health scare and trip planning

Sorry, I should have added this to my last post. On March 17th I mentioned on this thread that two friends of ours who where traveling through Europe and northern Africa in a rented camper van were stranded in Morocco, as the borders were closed due to the coronavirus.. Some here on WTW asked...

Ted - Congratulations on your retirement! Perhaps when this current situation is in our rear view mirrors, a bunch of us can meet up somewhere and enjoy each others' company again. Take good care of yourself.

    Camper Dolly FS Cheap

We leave our current camper on the truck full-time so no longer need this. The dolly is heavy duty and allows you to easily store your camper in your garage. Will sell to someone from this forum for $30.00 or a case of Sierra Nevada Pale Ale, whichever is easiest for you. Obviously, this must...

    Health scare and trip planning

"The best laid plans of mice and men" - Several on this thread have mentioned the potential problems associated with traveling outside of your home country and then not being able to return. Last fall we, along with some friends, put deposits on two camper vans with which we intended to tour...

    Personal-size Screen House?

We've had it for about three years and have only used it once or twice, but always have it on board just in case. We solved the storage problem that Vic mentioned this way.

Quick recommend for a first night, ever, dispersed @DVNP

That was going to be my suggestion as well. As AWG says, "Drive as far as you are comfortable." And, I would add, allow yourself a couple of hours for the drive. Once you get to the area where camping is allowed (I believe that is eight miles in) it becomes slow going due to the rocky...

    Question: Bottom section strength

Here is an interesting take on driving with the camper top in the up position. Last October we were with a group of friends (including Tuff Guy and wife from this forum) gassing up in Torrey, Utah near Capital Reef NP when a truck with a FWC drove by with his top in the up position. Several of...

New Truck for Hawk: F-150 or Tundra?

Bought a new 2017 F150 Supercab, 6.5' bed, 5.0 V8, 2,200 lbs. payload package, 36 gal. fuel tank, Helwig air bags and sway bar . . . . Hawk mounted full-time. It is the first Ford that I have ever owned and I am VERY pleased with this set-up. On a recent trip of 10,700 mile, traveling 60-65 mph...

    Dempster in 2020?

Thanks, Vic. Eddie - Unfortunately, I can't help you regarding camping in Bellingham area, as we stayed in a hotel that night. Many years ago when we were tenting it, we pulled into Bellingham after a very long day on the road. We were beat and decided to stay at a Comfort Inn on Meridian Rd...

    Dempster in 2020?

Glen and Eddie - We drove the Dempster in 2010 and again this past summer. Here is a link to the narrated slide show that that I put together after this last trip. We took seven weeks and covered 10,700 miles(live in California). A lot more than just the Dempster is covered but feel free to...
