RV LIFE Forum Hub, Wander The West No Destination : hoyden and two dogs hit the road full-time

I want to add my best wishes to all of the others that you have received. Since you burst onto the WTW scene a little over a year ago (my first recollection was your trip back to Illinois for Thanksgiving of 2015), you have added a great deal to this site. Thanks for that, and good luck with...

RV LIFE Forum Hub, Wander The West Geezer card increase

When I turned 62 I drove on my birthday to Sequoia National Park (not too far from home) to buy my pass. I mentioned to the ranger on duty what a good deal it was and he replied, "sir, you've been paying taxes all these years, and you earned this pass." I had never thought of it that way...

RV LIFE Forum Hub, Wander The West How well do F150s with Eco Boost 3.5 or 2.7 do with pop-up camper?

Thanks for the in-depth assessment, Ron. It's good that you are so happy with your set up. I too saw Park's comment regarding gas mileage, and it makes sense.

RV LIFE Forum Hub, Wander The West How well do F150s with Eco Boost 3.5 or 2.7 do with pop-up camper?

Thanks, Timothy. I was sort of hoping the 2.7 mileage would be 17 or 18 highway with a camper . . . . .wishful thinking, I guess.

RV LIFE Forum Hub, Wander The West How well do F150s with Eco Boost 3.5 or 2.7 do with pop-up camper?

I would like to hear from WTW members who own F150s with either the Eco Boost 3.5 or 2.7 motors. What kind of mileage are you getting? Does the motor handle the camper weight well? Overall, how satisfied are you with the truck/camper combo? Thanks.

RV LIFE Forum Hub, Wander The West Air Force Training Exercise - Rainbow Canyon, DVNP

We are taking some friends of ours for their first trip to DV tomorrow. We put together an itinerary for them, but after reading this thread the other day, I am going to try and spend a few hours at Rainbow Canyon, as well. My photography is not on par with many on this site, but if I get any...

97 Granby was asking for photos of Tuff Guy's camper. Here are a few from the Carrizo trip. The first photo should be titled "leader of the pack," and he certainly lead us on a great geological tour of the area. Come to think of it, I don't know the correct biological designation for the last...

RV LIFE Forum Hub, Wander The West Air Force Training Exercise - Rainbow Canyon, DVNP

About 15 years ago, we were camped with a friend in the Owens Valley, upslope and to the west of Hwy. 395. My wife headed out into the brush about 75 yards away from our camp to take care of some personal business. Suddenly, a fighter heading south down the Valley swooped quite close to our...

Haven't been to Davis or Lavender in quite a few years but my recollections are the same as Cayuse and nikonron's. We were in Beef Basin in 2013. In my experience (I have made the trip at least five times over the years), the road from 211 to BB is not bad with one caveat, watch the weather...

RV LIFE Forum Hub, Wander The West 2001 Tacoma, Std cab, 2WD enough truck for shell Fleet?

We had an 88 Toyota pick up (pre-Tacoma) with an 89 Fleet that was pretty loaded (strove, sink, three-way refrigerator, etc.). It had the old 22ER motor. I had a local spring shop re-arch the stock springs and add a leaf. This set up worked very well for the 10 years that we had that camper...

We've had the seats out and a simple plywood platform for a few years now, and really like the extra carrying capacity. Ally-Kat, you have taken it to the next level . . . great job! Like Sagebrush above, I too may plagiarize your idea and build a compartmentalized unit for organizational...

After seeing the small Clam on this site some months ago, we decided to buy one and like it very much. As many of you know, it rained quite a bit at the WTW rally last April at the Carrizo Plain. We used the Clam as a "spare room." We had coffee in it in the morning and a night cap in it at...
