Ha! Many moons and many thousands of miles ago. A lot of good memories in that rig. Baja never gets old. Thanks SD.

RV LIFE Forum Hub, Wander The West Wandering the Wildflowers

We spent the weekend out there, it is absolutely gorgeous but I think we are still weeks away from any sort of peak. We plan to return a couple more times as its not very far for us.

RV LIFE Forum Hub, Wander The West Spike in visitors to DVNP

Scary stats. It has all but ruined Big Sur. It used to be one of my favorite places, Spring time there was the best, I don’t bother anymore these days. Learned my lesson.

RV LIFE Forum Hub, Wander The West Termites

Dick, Not inside my camper, but found some minor damage underneath on the plywood spacer strips I installed to fit my old truck. Fortunately I was able to remove them when I installed new thicker strips to accommodate my new truck. Treated with Jasco before I repainted the whole underside. Maybe...

RV LIFE Forum Hub, Wander The West Winter -- Wow!

Quite the storm in Mammoth last night / this morning. 395 was a complete white out and was shut down north of Bishop somewhere around 7pm. Fun drive from town to down near the airport last night!

RV LIFE Forum Hub, Wander The West Step Gizmo for roof access

Bought one, but haven't used it in the field yet. Will definitely help in accessing the step I mounted to the front of my camper for surfboards and kayaks.

RV LIFE Forum Hub, Wander The West First visit Carrizo plains

We have been there numerous times at the height of a big bloom, with hordes of people, and always managed to find a place to camp alone. Just take the road less traveled and you should not have a problem. The vast majority are day trippers anyway.

RV LIFE Forum Hub, Wander The West Mammoth RV Park Has Issues

Rates seem to have gone up since I stayed there last. Stayed there one night a few years ago, paid for the hook up site thinking i'd finally use my electrical for the first time ever and plug in a portable heater to supplement my Wave 3. After checking in and reading the rules I found out plug...

RV LIFE Forum Hub, Wander The West Death Valley Boondocking

Cottonwood was probably your best bet from Marble. Or up Emigrant near Tucki Mine or Lemoigne. Recommend getting a Benchmark map or similar and search out dirt roads, maybe you can plan your post hike camps using that method. Or a more detailed guide book like these can help...

RV LIFE Forum Hub, Wander The West Death Valley Boondocking

There are a numerous roads off of westside road that allow camping up on the alluvial fan, you just need to head two miles up. Not sure what map you have but you should be able to camp off of most (not all) roads provided you are at least 2 miles back. No shortage of boondock locations in Death...

A friend and member here (TT) replaced his with stainless several years ago, zero issues and screws look like new. When my bucket of white tip steel screws runs out I will probably go that route.

RV LIFE Forum Hub, Wander The West FREE MATTRESSES FROM 2003 HAWK

I have replaced the thin mattresses in my Hawk with new 3” foam. These would be perfect for someone with an older Hawk or other model with a queen sized bed to double up with. Would solve the issue of the thinner mattresses in the older FWC’s, a layer of two would be quite comfy I think. The top...

RV LIFE Forum Hub, Wander The West Alabama Hills new rules coming?

^^ Completely agree. 15 years ago there was never an issue finding a secluded spot even on a weekend. Now, even midweek the place seems over run. Another favorite spot being loved to death.
