    84 Fleet - 09 Tacoma - Project

Thanks Matt. Glad you enjoyed it! Thanks for the idea Russ. I actaully did something similar with using velcro to keep my lifting mechanism up out of the doorway when in the closed position. Maybe I will do what you say, I do need to add pull tabs regardless so I'll figure out it. Thanks for...

    84 Fleet - 09 Tacoma - Project

This video is not truck camper content. But I thought some of you would appreciate the opening scene with a beautiful timelapse of the camper. I swear I'll post a build update someday. Huge rain/snow storm pushed some moister inside on the drive home. I think I need to re-caulk my...

    84 Fleet - 09 Tacoma - Project

Thanks for the kind words Russ. Glad you have enjoyed following along. Thanks for thinking of the stickers! I have plans for a custom badge on the back. Something unique since I pretty much did a full rebuild, but it will pay tribute to original made in CO and remade in CO :) The camper is...

    84 Fleet - 09 Tacoma - Project

Finally, some proper video content that belongs over here on wander the west. We had a great camping trip over labor day. Second weekend in the camper. Operating slightly below shell level right now but getting out in the camper is really motivating to finish everything up. An hour or two a...

Full build - Reconstructing a 1981 Grandby into a custom Hawk!

Looks awesome! I am always one step behind you, but just one. I have started to put together my bench on the other side. I want to throw down some new floor before moving forward. I beat up the 1st round of laminate with all the construction. A scrap box is pretty easy to come by. The...

    Mounting an 80's Fleet

I limped home using the tucks tie downs when I first bought my 80s fleet. Only about 30 miles and kept it pretty slow. I would suggest some custom bars that bolt to the bed bolt. Post 3 from my build page shows the ones built for Tacoma (by FWC). Any fabricator could make a similar piece that...

    84 Fleet - 09 Tacoma - Project

Sewing the panel together actaully was not that difficult. One thing I did was only make 3 seams and left the fourth seam open with plenty of extra material. Then hung the entire canvas on the camper and actaully put together the final seam with hh-66 and a sailmaker awl. This saved my life...

    84 Fleet - 09 Tacoma - Project

Jason, Glad to hear you are iterating on the lifter design. I owe it to others on this site who did it before me. Two tips I think I would look at to improve on. 1st. If you don't have any expereince bending emt, do some practice bends. Nice 90deg corners are helpful to make everything fit...

    DIY canvas side panels?

I'm using these D-ring, http://www.homedepot.com/p/3-4-in-Brass-D-Ring-811198/204276273 I thought 3/4 in was a nice size, really no wrong answer I think.

    DIY canvas side panels?

Shell back, I made my D rings last night. I am just using HH-66 to put them on. I the glue is bombproof, I think it should work well but they are not fully on yet so I can not say 100%.

Porky and Shellback. Maybe I wasn't around when you were discussing this before, or I might have just missed it. But I have one old lifter panel. I can take any measurments you need. Give me specifics and I can pull the tape measure a few times no problem. I'll post photos or video of...

    1979 Granby

Shellback. My old Fleet originally just had the two large windows on each side with an additional two little windows near the cab over. The large main windows measured ~38 X12". If you check out my build you will see some photos of the original canvas. I am actively sewing my canvas now too...

    WTB vintage FWC door frame

I've been to this RV salvage yard before. They literally have a barn full of door. Get your measurments and give them a call if you want. http://www.fivestarrvgroup.com/ I just rebuilt my door too, but my frame was a fine shape:)...
