    Truck Payload Exceedance

Interestingly enough, on another forum I'm on, someone just reported the results of weighing his fully loaded truck and camper on a CAT scale. FAWR = 4550, actual FAW = 4320 RAWR = 6780, actual RAW = 6380 GVWR = 10600, actual GVW = 10700 So he was 100 lbs. OVER his GVWR, but still 200 pounds...

One of the options when you have your Alaskan built is an insulated floor for an extra $425.

Conversely, with an 8 foot bed, you can fit a 10 foot Alaskan, with the additional 2 feet on the tailgate, as seen in pictures on the Alaskan site.

    Water pump and filters

Thanks ckent323. If anyone is interested in a pretty good review of various water purification products, this one on EXPEDITION PORTAL is fairly recent: https://expeditionportal.com/water-treatment-systems-the-mother-of-all-reviews/

    Water pump and filters

Take a look at this particular site: https://www.rvwaterfilterstore.com/ They sell a number of different filters, as well as ultra-violet devices and water pumps. Depending on the kinds of filter you wind up using, you may want a water pump with greater pressure or flow than the one FWC...

Truck for the 6.5 foot cab over

Sounds like you will - technically - be over the trucks's Gross Vehicle Weight Rating. Some people are bothered by this, some don't seem to worry about it. Adding helper springs and such-like will certainly level the truck, but LEGALLY, no aftermarket add-ons increase the truck's factory...

Truck for the 6.5 foot cab over

Published weight figures for campers tend to be optimistic and lower than actual real world weights. And people don't usually allow for enough weight for passengers, food, clothing, bedding, the dog, etc You didn't say if you were buying new or used. Wet weight for the current 6.5 cabover is...

    Living With New Automotive Technology

It's not a mini-spare, but rather a tire/rim marked "For Temporary Use Only". At least, according to the owner's manual that came with it.

    Living With New Automotive Technology

My F250 has built in TPMS, but it only reads the four road wheels. The spare does NOT have a sensor in it. Apparently it's also one of those TEMPORARY spare tires, too . . .

Well, **I'D** certainly be offended if you did that! Seriously, Joe, If I remember correctly, you brought the camper home on the back of your pickup truck. How did it handle? How did it stop? How was it on long hills? Did you actually take it to a scale and weigh your truck, with and...

    LT tire suggestions

How can you tell if tires are 10 ply? My understanding is that ply ratings are left over from the days when tires were cotton plies, rubber, and no belts. Literally, the more plies you had, the stronger the tire was and the more air pressure it could hold and the more weight it could...

Battery relocation good idea or bad?

Realize I'm late to the party here, but I was just wondering how much internal space you're going to gain back, and what you plan to store there? Cause this strikes me as an awful lot of work for not an awful lot of return. Of course, that could just be my inner lazy bum speaking . . .

As I understood it, he used to take his keys up into bed so he could activate the alarm if he heard someone around his rig. Considering the way the authorities get all bent out of shape when you shoot an intruder, I can't really say that's a bad idea.
