    Wasps are pretty tough

Haven't seen you here for a while, Jeff -- great story...and a great warning to us all! Yes I have not been on much over the past months. Started new job in June ending three years of unemployment. Been too busy to do anything except just get by. We are looking forward to getting back on...

    Wasps are pretty tough

We have all heard about wasps getting into heaters etc. Here is a new one. I go out and check the camper over...its on blocks on the side of the house. I started a new job back in June so I took it off knowing we will not be able to use it for a while. I look into the heater vents and wow...

    towing

the only folks who say "an expensive winch wont get used much" are the ones who dont have a winch. i have one. used it a lot. beats digging. i consider it indispensible. otherwise you only have one option - dont go out with one vehicle.

    Horror Stories

from back in '95 as well.... i've been out in snowy backwoods stuck after a day of eating and drinking due to running the vehicle battery down playing music all day. there was still enough juice to use the cb set. a quick jump and all was well. one time the wife & I and our two girls woke up...

    ELECTRONIC MELTDOWN

you really want a auto-reset breaker. like pods said, if you run down your house batt it will trip that breaker a few times during the first minutes after your isolator connects it to your truck charging system.

    ELECTRONIC MELTDOWN

Adopting the most ignorant possible PoV, I cannot recall finding a fused ground in any motor vehicle I have ever owned, nor are they permitted in the NEC, nor are they permitted in the ABYC standard previously cited. If it was such a grand idea, then why is it not found anywhere but in my...

    ELECTRONIC MELTDOWN

Mark Ingalls: the fuse in your house battery ground side is there to protect that wire in the case where the house batt ground is doing double duty due to an upstream failure of a "normal" ground path. the reality is this: lets look at a simple example of a stereo radio. if the radio is fed...

My Top 4 Camp Spots in Baja

Theres definitely a double standard. Homeowners are expected to play by the rules while business pretty much gets to do whatever it wants. I sure wish I was smart enough to have sold my house at the top of the market. Would have made a nice bit of money. i saw a video where the head of the...

    Mojave Preserve

And one more comment about the mojave road. it is narrow. a very tight fit for a full size pickup. joshua trees ripped off my side porchlight lens and smashed the front cap on my awning. watch out for joshua trees. Oh yes, there are no cows, no cattle anywhere. Only one ranch remains...

    Mojave Preserve

We had been driving east on the mojave road and at this point we decided to head nother into Carruthers Canyon. We were headed to camp phallus. We had a heck of time getting into the area due to rock falls and eroded washes...but we made it. Some group had built a very nice BBQ. The sites...

    Mojave Preserve

Once we were done snooping around it was time to head for the old mojave road. Our first stop was Government Holes, one of a numbe of old watering stops. The trough had water in it....and a lot of bees...it did not look too good to the dog either. This site had a big cistern, and inside was...

    Mojave Preserve

We had a quick breakfast the following morning and we were off on the hike to cow cove. Total round trip distance we 3.3 miles.....very easy. Once there, this is a sample of what we saw... There were thousands of petroglyphs! and no vandalism! there were some good cactus too!

    Mojave Preserve

We drove down to the Mojave National Preserve after deciding that we wanted to see some sunshine and escape the rain. Weather reports looked good so off we went. While planning the trip I did a lot of research work and found a wealth of good info on the web. These gals have a ton of good...
